But first here's an interesting question that I'd like you to answer..... If the gurus really are the experts then why are the people who buy their books often left grasping for answers? I mean, if the gurus are selling thousands of dollars worth of information on how to build the best work at home internet business in a flash, then why does almost everyone who buys these books fail before they've even got out of neutral?
Several months ago I was a full time teacher and I was like an information black-hole. I bought every ebook and I read every newsletter too. This may sound familiar to you!
I made cracking the internet marketing code my personal Everest and the challenge consumed me. Just a few short months ago my online dreams were hanging by a thread, but instead of giving up I ignored everything that I'd been told and started again.
And that's been a sobering experience and one that I think you should take note of. I didn't give up and nor should you. Many people give up just before they are successful!
What I discovered whilst at my lowest ebb was that the old rules of internet marketing were wrong and that a new set of rules were needed.
I discovered that 'over-delivery' and 'value' were much more powerful than hype and spin. People were tired of being sold to all the time and distrusted all those hyped-up sales messages.
I discovered that 'giving away' content for free often meant receiving more back in return.
I discovered that treating my subscribers like I would members of my own family meant that they responded by opening my emails and clicking my links in record numbers.
What I had discovered was the best work at home internet business that had been eluding me for so long. I'd spent months following the guru plan and nothing, and yet here I was standing on my own two feet, enjoying a whirlwind of success. In short, I did everything upside down and back to front. And the results were stunning....
At the start of this article I said that I would like to share with you a concept that's so powerful it has changed my life. Well, what I want to share with you is that selling is not a 'goal', it's an 'effect' of what you do. By turning the business on its head and giving away lots of value I actually created the 'effect' that people wanted to buy from me.
The second point I want to share with you is my own stubbornness. Don't give up just because it doesn't work immediately, Don't keep jumping from idea to idea. If what you are doing isn't working, even if the gurus tell you different, look for your own way to make it work.
