Best Acne Treatments
Do you still suffer from acne, despite the thousands of companies promising acne freedom in less than 30 days? You aren't alone. Millions of people each year suffer from acne, and this symptom isn't easy to cure. There are thousands of acne products on the market today, and very few of them work. In fact, most of them are rip-off products of other products - name brand products are more popular, but they in fact contain the same ingredients as acne products that don't work. If you want to learn what works and what doesn't, read on. I will explain how and why each type of acne treatment will work.
Types of Acne Treatments
It's important to understand what you put on your face.
So, what exactly do these acne treatments contain? We'll start with the most popular brands, Proactiv and AcneFree. These two products use the ingredients benzoyl peroxide and salycilic acid. Benzoyl peroxide effectively kills off the bacteria that causes acne, and salycilic acid keeps pores unclogged. What they didn't tell you is, with prolonged use, these chemicals damage the skin.Have you ever seen anyone who has been using benzoyl peroxide for an extended period of time? Well, their face doesn't look smooth and appears slightly bleached. This appearance is what you get for overusing this chemical. Just go to any acne forum and ask around - people will say similar results.
Also, benzoyl peroxide is like a drug. You must keep using it, or your acne will come back. That's how these companies get you hooked onto their products, since you have to keep purchasing their product in order to become acne free.
Benzoyl peroxide is often given at 2.5% concentration in the acne treatment. After one to two months, this concentration will become ineffective for treating your type of acne. Then, you'll move up to 5%, and soon 10% benzoyl peroxide concentration. Many companies try to "trick" you into buying their acne product claiming it treats severe acne, but they merely just increased the benzoyl peroxide concentration. It is suggested to avoid benzoyl peroxide if it didn't treat your acne permanently in a short period of time.
Anyway, benzoyl peroxide is 1960s technology. There are much better and newer acne treatments today.

Finding a Good Acne Treatment
Acne Treatment
Many companies promise you acne free skin in a very short period of time. This may be possible, however you need to make sure that the acne treatment will work for your skin. What do your pimples look like? Are they red and puffy? Are they clogged? Does your skin over secrete sebum? Based on these ideas, you need to make a wise decision in choosing the acne treatment that solves the needs particular to your skin.
Not every acne treatment will work for your skin, so choose wisely when picking out an acne treatment.
