What is the best basketball to buy?
Ranked #9 in Sports & Recreation, #592 overall
What is the best basketball? Well that's a question that I wondered about for a long time. There are thousands of different kinds of basketballs out there. Almost every one has something different about it, and they all have a different price. It depends on the person who is buying the basketball. Do you like the traditional leather feel, or the newer composite. How much do you want to spend? Do you want one that feels really good, or one that will last for a long time? Do you play mostly in indoor or outdoor courts? There are so many variables that it can get pretty confusing. I will try to help you out a little bit , and show you some of the best basketballs.
Spalding TF 1000
The Spalding TF 1000 is one of the most popular basketballs out there. It is used by a lot of colleges as well as most high schools. It feels great to the touch, lasts for a long time, and it can easily handle outside courts as well as inside.
The ball the Pros use
If they use it in the NBA that would have to make it the best basketball there is. It's a little more expensive, but you will definitely be able to guess why. It has a great feel to it. I love using it. I would definitely recommend this one if you are looking for the best basketball.
WIlson Wave Phenom
This one is a little different. When I first saw it I was sceptical because I thought the waves would through me off. However when I tried it in a game I actually liked it. I like using it, and with it being less than 20 dollars I think it's one of the best deals for a basketball you can get.
Wilson Evolution
The Wilson Evolution "Evo" is one of the best indoor basketballs. It is widely used as a practice ball, as well as a game ball to some high schools. I wouldn't recommend that it be purchased for use specifically on outdoor courts. For outdoor courts I recommend the Spalding Neverflat or the Spalding TF 1000, but if you are looking for a ball to brig to the gym I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
Never Flat
The Spalding Never Flat is easily the best basketball for outdoor courts. Outdoor courts are brutal on all other balls. They won't last that long at all. That's why the Never flat basketball is specifically designed for outdoors. It will stay inflated long after any other ball has a hole in it.

- I'm somewhat surprised that Wilson's Evolution didn't make this list. I would compare it directly to the Spalding TF1000, with more of a composite feel. I used the Spalding TF for years, but i have to say that when it was wet (ie sweat, humidy, etc..) it would lose a lot of grip.
