Best Dog Food - Natural Dog Food For Your Best Dog Feedback

We'd love to get your feedback on our All Natural Dog Food lens

From the lens Best Dog Food - Natural Dog Food for Your Best Dog.

What do you think of our Best Dog Food lens? Have you tried Gatsby's recommendation for all Natural Dog Food?

We are marketing affiliates of human grade Flint River Ranch natural dog food, so we get paid if you purchase anything through links on this page. (That includes links for bowls, pet nutritional supplements, and pet health information, too. Gatsby takes the pet supplements!) But our choices were made based on our own research and experience, prompted by the scary Pet Food Recall scandal. Gatsby and we love Flint River Ranch natural dog food and what it has done for his coat and allergies. So we put our money and his health where our mouth is!

What is your dog food experience? Have our lists of what to look for and what to avoid in your dog's food helped you? That is our goal - To help you have a healthy, happy, long-living dog.

Young bones makes a good point, your vet will know what is the best for your dog. The things you need to consider are his age, weight, and energy level and size. If anyone is interested I just made a lens about printable dog food coupons you can save some money!

The #1 thing to remember when trying any of these diets is to consult your Vet FIRST! I can not stress this enough. I've tried several of these diets with my dogs (various sizes and breeds) and always consulted with my vet first. Every dog is different and the diet can affect dogs in different ways. Check out my blog and my findings for more info: www.bestdogfooddiets.com

I agree with hal1000. Thanks for the cost comparison of wellness dog food with regular dog food. I found it doesn't have to cost more, because your dog eats less. It's more nutrient rich, like our eating a really good, natural brown rice that's twice as filling as white rice and far more loaded with nutrients. I think too many pet owners miss this. I enjoyed this lens. Good content. 5*

Nice lens! Good to see someone is focussing on whether or not natural food costs more than conventional feed - it's not a foregone conclusion so thanks for highlighting that for us all. Natural dog food does not have to be expensive so why don't more owners choose it? Let's hope a few more read your lens!

Nice lens. I found it doing a search for Squidoo on Tweetdeck. I have a Westie that has skin problems and we may have to be changing foods as a result. 5*'s

Some of the Veterinarian recommended dog foods have Ethoxyquin in them. Even if you can afford the best, one can improve on the brand. I use Purina's Pro Plan or One Lamb & Rice because they raise the lamb without hormones and anti-biotics and they have no preservatives in them. I don't even like to use a dogfood with rosemary extract as a preservative because it can cause kidney failure. Rosemary has cytotoxic compounds in it.

Great lens. Although I live in the UK (where we have not been affected by the recall), I have always thought the pet food companies had something to hide - most are owned by big name producers who just want somewhere to get rid of byproducts from their other concerns. Any readers from the UK or the EU (Europe) looking for alternative dog foods should check out Arden Grange and Burns Pet Nutrition

There is another one that you have missed out which is Whites Premium Dog Food which is both cheaper than AG and Burns but is also made fresh - one month's supply at a time rather than a warehouse full! You can get a free sample of it from these guys http://www.offyoutrot.co.uk/blog/free-samples-whites-premium-dog-food/

Good information! I used Flint River Ranch for a couple of years...very happy with them; however, wanted to buy dry, canned and raw in same place and finally found a local specialty store that carried all.

"What's the "deadly duo?" Two structurally similar chemicals previously considered to be relatively nontoxic individually - melamine and cyanuric acid - but deadly when combined. And BOTH were found in the cat and dog food recall in March 2007."
This is very alarming. Good thing they detected it before it got worse. We can never be sure with commercial dog food. For dog owners, it's better to make homemade dog food so you can make sure you'll know it's safe.

Pound for pound, commercial dog food (look at the ingredients: meat and animal derivatives) is more expensive than human grade mass produced chicken meat. We should all be thinking about what goes into the food we give our pets, so thanks, Rena for putting the word out!

Thanks! Looked for an alternative to pet store/grocery store/farm supply bags of dog food - not having time to cook complex recipes, yet concerned about missing necessary vitamins, minerals, enzymes, co-factors in a raw dog food diet. Tried your recommended wellness dog food, Flint River. Love it!
