Best Family Vacations in Europe/Africa
Instead of traveling the world like we originally wanted to do ten years ago, we decided the best option with a six year old was to move to France and travel throughout Europe and Africa during all her (which are many) vacations. In addition to figuring out how to travel well we have ideas on the best family vacations and what makes them great! This includes how to vacation with extended family and friends!

First Choice is an All Inclusive Club
Travel through Eastern Europe, Greece, Africa, Caribbean and Mexico
Tip #1 Consider an all inculsive holiday at a Club Med, Nouvelle Frontiere Paladien, or other all inclusive holiday resorts. Check out the following:- Ask about the mini club or teen club and discover which one has the best activities for your children and if they are open when you are visiting. (Many clubs have mini clubs during school vacations only)
- if the food is usually good in the country in general, you can assume it will be good at the club. For example, we got quickly tired of the food in Morocco (alot of couscous and chicken) but loved the food and variety in Crete.
- Bring grandparents or other families for an easy way to be together but have your own time.
- Take excursions (either with the club if it is dangerous to drive or go alone) or rent a car or taxi driver to discover the local culture.
- Watch for deals where the second week is half the price of the first week. A wonderful bargain!
- If you want to practice a foreign language consider a "french only club" or perhaps "spanish only." Some people will speak english but you can be assured it will help improve you and
Questions to Ask All Inclusive Clubs
- Is there a mini-club or teen club, is it open when you visit and what are the activities
- What languages are spoken. Don't assume English is spoken!
- What are the facilities like? How old? Has the salesperson been there? Is it recommended? Note: some clubs are older than others and haven't been upgraded yet
- What excursions are there? Can you drive on your own - meaning is it safe?
- What's the food like? Has anyone been there?
- Are there discounts for going certain times of the year (that have a mini club) or for a second week?
- Can you buy pre-paid parking for the airport? (Many airports have this but they may not offer it if you don't ask).
- What documents do you need to bring? For some clubs they require a doctor certification for your child to participate.
