Great info here, thank you for sharing! And I'm with you @jimmyworldstar, macros are definitely essential for strategy games.

Programmable macros are essential, especially for strategy games. While I'm fine with a regular keyboard, I can see how those with extra keys and added features are make or break for professional gamers who make a living off of this.

Much like your mouse, what games you play can make a difference with what you need from your keyboard. If you are a big MMO player and use a lot of macros then a keyboard like the Logitech G110 or G15 make for good choices.

Gaming mode would have been nice that one time I pressed the Windows key. I ended up just getting rid of the key instead...

If it's not programmable - it's not a real keyboard.

Now (in 2010) we strongly need one more "main feature" for gaming keyboard - Wireless (Cordless)!
And I for example do not use WASD but ESDF (to have more actions for little finger in standard keyboard layout) so I need all nice enhancements (as unique backlit, metal coated and so on) for ESDF claster.

I'm getting ready to buy a Razer Lycosa Mirror Special Edition Gaming Keyboard from Newegg, and I'm getting it not because it's a gaming keyboard, but because it has a low profile, nice backlight (awsome for working in the dark), and personalily, it's shiney! I think it's pretty cool.

Golly, I hadn't realised there were so many types of keyboards available! I don't game as you do - my time is spent in Second Life but my first requirement is programmable keys followed by a top USB headset 5* for this information. You explain things so clearly, I noticed that in another lens of yours
