However, therein lies the problem.

Sorry I lied. There are two problems:

1) There are thousands and thousands of so-called 'best' home based business opportunities out there. Most are structured in such a way so as to make money for the owners. They can make money for you too, if their are not a scam in the first place. But ultimately, they look after number one before they look after you.

2) When you do look at numerous home based business opportunities, and you finally find one, you end up procrastinating. As a result you give up before you even get started.

First of all, don't choose 'job' type opportunities. Effectively if you see an ad offering you a home based business opportunity, and it resembles a job - run. But if it looks like a good opportunity, then do your due diligence and investigate it further.

How do you investigate these things?

It's hard to know if any given offer is a scam. To find out what I do is to look at the URL (web address) of the site in question.

Lets say there is a business opportunity called: "Make Loadza Money With Me" and the web site address is: http://www.make-loadza-money-with-me.com/affilid?=17777. Copy the URL from the 'http:' all the way to the end of the '.com' (leaving out the 'affilid?=17777' part of it). Then go to http://allwhois.com and paste it into the search box.

From there click on 'search' to view the results. It should show the owner of the site and when the URL was first registered. If it is a new URL, run. Don't go for opportunities that are under a year old as they will not have had a chance to prove themselves. If you know and trust the owner, then maybe it's okay to go ahead with it. But remember, it isn't proven. So it may not work.

If the name has been registered for a year (18 months is better), then locate forums for best home based business opportunities. Just go to Google, type in "home business forums" and click go. You should get a load of links to forums on the results page of Google.

Go to a few of these by clicking on the relevant links in the results page. Then type in the company name you're investigating. Click go and view the posts related to that particular opportunity (if any). If there are posts about it, then determine if they are negative or positive. Get a feel for it.

When done with forums, go back to Google Search Engine, and type in "home business scams". Click search. When the results come up, click on the links to each site and do a search on each of these using the name of the program you are investigating. In the above example I would use 'Make Loadza Money With Me'.

Note what people are saying. Get a feel for it. Trust your instincts. Are people making money from this opportunity? If not, is it because of the company itself? Or is it because of the individuals themselves? Read between the lines of the comments.

Do this when you see an opportunity that sounds really great. Resist the temptation to hop on board without checking it out first. If you are not even prepared to go through this trouble, then this begs the next question:

Do you tend to procrastinate?

Well do you?

If you do, then mo matter how good an opportunity is, you are going to fail. If you aren't even willing to follow the above steps to ensure you have a good business opportunity, then you are most likely not going to do the work required to successfully operate any best home based business opportunities you come across.

It's a two-way street. If you are trying out one opportunity after another, and aren't doing the work, then you're wasting your time. By the same token if you are doing the work, and the company itself isn't legit or the system just doesn't work, you are also wasting your time.

At the end of the day, you must do the work. Make no mistake, any good best home based business opportunities do require work and effort. But please do make sure that you direct your energy at reputable and proven companies. Do your due diligence and research an opportunity. If it pans out great, go for it. The rest is up to you.

Ideally what you need are:

A) The work ethic:
Are you willing to put forth the effort? Will you do whatever it takes to ensure your success? Will you be consistent in all you do?

B) A Proven System:
Does your potential business opportunity have a proven system? Does it provide you with the necessary support while you learn and grow with them? Does it have multiple income streams that pay you when someone doesn't buy the product it sells?
