The web is full of marketing information and advice. Some of these websites, blogs, and wikis are useful and some are completely useless. Below is a list of top 10 marketing websites that I find the useful for gathering marketing techniques, tips, tricks, news and statistics.

1. MarketingSherpa.com 

Marketing info and research website

MarketingSherpa is a research firm specializing in tracking what works and doesn't in marketing. Their objective is to provide marketers the stats and instructions necessary to improve their results. This is one of the most useful publications I know.

2. MarketingProfs.com 

Online Marketing Magazine

This marketing website specializes in strategic and tactical marketing know-how. It has over 313,000 members and 300 contributors. Although there are free articles, not everything is free. This resource provides members with practical marketing tools and information through articles, online seminars, case studies, workshops, templates, benchmark survey reports, buyer's guides and thought-leader panel discussions. Updated weekly.

3. WhamWiki.com 

Marketing information gathered into lists.

It is the only marketing wiki that I could find. It's a great way to condense large quantities of information into manageable lists. This is a great tool to organize and store your marketing knowledge. The best part is that once you post information on Wham!, the rest of the community can help improve it. No filler. The goal is to collaboratively create the ultimate collection of how-to lists for marketers. Just the juicy bits.

4. OneDegree.ca 

Social media and internet marketing website

They cover all aspects of online marketing and offer in-depth analysis, commentary, best practices, real-life experiences, and general insights from digital and social media marketers. One Degree's contributors are some of Canada's best, most insightful and innovative internet marketers.

Online Marketing Magazine

A website full of articles about interactive marketing news, information, commentary, advice, opinion, research, and reference. It also as an interesting stats section

SEO Paid Newsletter

This is one of the few websites that I found worth paying for. Monthly it publishes fresh Search Engine Optimization news based on research that they conduct. Very useful stuff.

7. Seth Godin's Blog 

Best marketing blog

Unlike the other websites in this list, this is actually a blog. On a daily basis, Seth offers valuable advice about everything marketing. He doesn't bore you with irrelavent detail...just brilliant insight. (He's also the founder of Squidoo)

Examples of great advertising website

If you need some inspiration for producing a great print ad, this is your website. It's full of creative and powerful ads from all over the world (hence the URL). It also has a really great blog.

Online version of the print publication

This is the onlinve version of one of the more established marketing publications on the web - Advertising Age. It does a great job delivering the latest news from the marketing and advertising angle.

This is a great site to look for market research and trend analysis on Internet, e-business, online marketing, media and emerging technologies. There reports are often quoted in blogs and news reports.

This book does a fantastic job explaining how "ideaviruses" are created and what crucial elements they must have to be successful. Using real-world examples, Seth Godin eloquently connects the dots of what makes some ideas go viral.

Hey, Whipple, Squeeze This: A Guide to Creating Great Ads, Second Edition

When it first came out, it quickly became a must read within a lot of ad agencies. It's really well written and chuck full of insight and advice on how you can develop a memorable ad. The fact that it's funny, doesn't hurt either.

The Anatomy of Buzz: How to Create Word of Mouth Marketing

A great book about word-of-mouth marketing. It's well structured and full of good ideas, tips, guidelines, and real-life stories about creating buzz. It has interesting information on how to utilize hubs and hop between networks.

Guerrilla Marketing for the Home-Based Business

Great book on how you can use low-cost strategies to attract customers, increase loyalty, and build a solid brand. A fantastic book for new businesses and entrepreneurs.

Made to Stick: Why Some Ideas Survive and Others Die

Have you ever wondered why urban legends are so viral? This entertaining book leaves off where The Tipping Point ended by explaining how marketers can get their product or service to the tipping point. They tackle the concept of "stickiness"and what makes ideas unforgettable. This book is so good that I actually read it twice.
