Best idea on movie marketing

Fox's The Omen 666 hit on Tuesday, June 6th, or 6/6/06. (Get it?) Usually movies open on Wednesday of Friday, but Fox opening on Tuesday was able to claim Tuesday as their "own" day. The release broke the box office record for a Tuesday release with a gross of $12,633,666 (yes, Fox does claim that the last digits are correct.

Best Marketing Buzzword

Discoverability. Check out Reef's bottle opener on the heal which is never advertised or noted on the packaging. Reef prefers to let their customers "discover" this wonder for themselves and tell others. Check out www.mysteriousURL.com to see more discoverablility. (Just joking)

Coors attributes an increase in Coors Light sales due to and unusually hot summer weather.

Best place to do your business in 2006

The public toilet. These guys were genius. They just ignored the stigma of the situation and made it very cool to hang in a New York City bathroom. If you live in New York you are probably saying to yourself "why didn't I think of that...right". Hey, this is not just for tourists. Check it out if you get the chance. People actually lounge upstairs waiting for friends to finish their business. The Naked Cowboy thinks its pretty cool too!

Of course this was YouTube material.

The best Black Sheep

This is an ad that I picked for both its photographic execution and simple but catching concept. Not to mention the use of Guns & Roses, which has always been the perfect ear worm. Glad they opted for the sheep and not a black pot-bellied pig.

Black Sheep - Harley Davidson

This is the clip with the original Paridise City from GnR. Check out some of the other audio additions on You Tube!

Hey, City That Never Sleeps. Wake up!

I always thought that the smell that rose out of the NYC manholes was a little rancid myself, but hey who am I to judge coffee. (small plug for "cafe regular" a number on coffee hide-away in the slope"). This was a nice little idea which got people to stop and look - please get out of the street first.

If the images is too small to see here the cliff note: an adhesive back vinyl image of a cup of coffee was applied to a NYC manhole cover. Holes were punch so that the steam could still escape, hence the illusion of a hot cup-a-joe.

Mini Cooper - Clown Car

Mini Cooper ad at a subway station exit. This is a nice execution of a simple idea. Of course when the day os done hundreds pile into the Mini to get home.
