Stephen Fry on Twitter
Stephen Fry, the third most popular Twitter user, has broken the 100,000 follower barrier - as reported by the Daily Telegraph on 02 February 2009.
The article goes on to inform us that Stephen Fry was the second most followed individual on Twitter after Barack Obama who had 225,520 followers. CNN, the American news network, had 124,286.
By the time this lens was written (29 May 2009) Stephen Fry's following had increased to a huge 525,855, still somewhat behind Barack Obama at 1,267,181 and CNN News at 1,605,277 but still remarkable!
However, what is really incredible is that in the three months since the article was written, Fry has dropped to #82 in the Top Most Followed Twitterers according to Twitterholic.
Three months is a long time in the history of Twitter!

Who is Stephen Fry?
All round jolly good fellow!
Born on born 24 August 1957, the English actor and comedian Stephen Fry is also an author, television presenter and film director.
Stephen Fry first came to attention of his British fans as one part of a comedy double act with Hugh Laurie, who is well know in America for his starring role in "House". The duo Fry and Laurie also played in the title roles in Jeeves and Wooster.
Fry also played the parts of Oscar Wilde in the film Wilde and Melchett in the British Comedy TV series Blackadder, alongside Rowan Atkinson (Mr Bean). Currently Fry is hosting the British TV Panel show QI.
In 2008 Fry presented a TV series showing him travelling to all 50 US States and more recently he has become better known to American TV audiences for his recurring role in Bones.

Stephen Fry loves Twitter
He even has a dedicated Twitter page on his website
Stephen Fry's dedicated Twitter page lists his latest Tweets and replies. He also gives a very simple explanation as to why he never ReTweets, saying:
If I direct followers' attention to one site on request, then don't I have to for all?
Fair enough!
However Stephen Fry does relent sufficiently to say that once a week he WILL select a worthy cause to RT and explains what action followers need to take and what he will do to help them.

Complaints over article about death of Stephen Gately
16 October 2009 - Stephen Fry tweeted:
"I gather a repulsive nobody writing in a paper no one of any decency would be seen dead with has written something loathsome and inhumane."
Stephen Fry's tweets resulted in a massive public outcry and the British Press Complaints Commission received over 1000 complaints against Dalily Mail journalist Jan Moir after she wrote a horrible article about the death of the Boyzone singer Stephen Gately.
