Biography
Jones was born in Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas,[11] and grew up in the suburb of Rockwall.[12] He graduated from Anderson High School in northwest Austin, Texas in 1993 and briefly attended Austin Community College.
He began his career in Austin with a live, call-in format cable access television program. In 1996, Jones switched format to KJFK, hosting a show named The Final Edition.[13] In 1997, he released his first documentary-style film, America Destroyed By Design.[14]
In 1998, Jones spearheaded the effort to rebuild the David Koresh-led Branch Davidian compound/church near Waco, Texas. He often featured the project on his cable access program and claimed that Koresh and his followers were peaceful people who were murdered by Attorney General Janet Reno and the BATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) in the infamous Waco Siege.[15]
In 1999, he tied with Shannon Burke for that year's "Best Austin Talk Radio Host" poll as voted by The Austin Chronicle readers.[16] Later that year, he was fired from KJFK-FM. According to the station's operations manager, Jones was fired because his viewpoints made the show hard to sell to advertisers and he refused to stop disussing certain topics.[13] Jones argued: "It was purely political, and it came down from on high," and, "I was told 11 weeks ago to lay off Clinton, to lay off all these politicians, to not talk about rebuilding the church, to stop bashing the Marines, A to Z."[17]
In early 2000 Jones was one of seven Republican candidates for state representative in Texas House District 48, a swing district based in Austin, Texas. Jones however aborted his campaign and withdrew before the March primary. Democrat Ann Kitchen won the seat in the November election.[18]
Also in 2000, Jones and assistant Mike Hanson infiltrated the Bohemian Grove and filmed the opening weekend ceremony, known as the Cremation of Care, a mock human sacrifice in front of a 40' stone owl, which he believes has pagan origins. His footage can be viewed in his film Dark Secrets: Inside Bohemian Grove.
On June 8, 2006, while he was on his way to cover a meeting of the Bilderberg group in Ottawa, Canada, Jones was stopped and detained at the Ottawa airport by Canadian authorities who confiscated his passport, camera equipment, and most of his belongings. He was later released.[19]
On September 8, 2007 Jones was arrested while protesting at Sixth Avenue and Forty-Eighth Street in New York, NY. He was charged with operating a bullhorn without a permit. In addition two others were cited for disorderly conduct when his group crashed a live TV show featuring Geraldo Rivera. One of Jones's fellow protesters said "It was ... guerrilla information warfare."[20]
Jones has appeared in two Richard Linklater movies as an actor: Waking Life (2001) and A Scanner Darkly (2006).

The Alex Jones Show
The main show airs Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Central Standard Time on over 60 AM/FM affiliates throughout the United States and on WWCR Shortwave. The show is also transmitted by live internet streaming and re-broadcast feeds available on Jones' websites. [21] As of April 2008 a 4th hour has been added to the show, running between 2 p.m.-3 p.m. CST. The hour is not aired by all affiliates, though is always broadcast via the internet feed.
In addition Alex Jones has a late afternoon Sunday radio show aired on Emmis Communications' KLBJ 590 AM in Austin. Both shows are nationally syndicated in association with Genesis Communications Network.[22]
Jones' website includes audio (and some video) interviews with guests who have appeared on his show.[23][24] Notable guests and interviews include:
* Charlie Sheen, whose comments regarding the September 11, 2001 attacks [25] later received mainstream media coverage and commentary by CNN Showbiz Tonight,[26] Fox News' Hannity & Colmes,[27] and Jimmy Kimmel Live.[28]
* Willie Nelson, who questioned the official story of the September 11, 2001 attacks.[29] These comments received criticism in the "Pinheads & Patriots" segment on an episode of The O'Reilly Factor.
* Jesse Ventura, who stated that he regrets not asking more questions about the September 11, 2001 attacks when he was still governor of Minnesota. In particular he questioned the collapse of the buildings, making the comparison with that of a controlled demolition.[30][31][32]

- A reporter for the left leaning alternative news website The Huffington Post has been attacked by neo-con bloggers and phony right-wing patriots after pointing out that the current financial crisis is part of an intentional coup to transfer unprecedented power to the Executive Branch and place public funds in the hands of the global corporate elite.
Writer Larisa Alexandrovna, makes a number of salient points in an article entitled "Welcome to the final stages of the coup...".
Referring to the Bush administration's "Wall Street bailout bill", Alexandrovna warns that a fascist coup is in it's closing stages, describing the proposed legislation as "treachery being conducted in the light of day."
She writes:
"Now, if you do not yet understand that the Wall Street crisis is a man-made disaster done through intentional deregulation and corruption, I have a bridge in Alaska to sell to you (or Sara Palin does anyway). This manufactured crisis is now to be remedied, if the fiscal fascists get their way, with the total transfer of Congressional powers (the few that still remain) to the Executive Branch and the total transfer of public funds into corporate (via government as intermediary) hands.
[...] we already now have in writing, formally as presented to Congress, the intentions of this administration to nullify Congressional powers permanently, to alter Judicial powers permanently, and to openly steal public funds using as blackmail the total collapse of the US economy if these powers are not handed over. You do see how this is blackmail, do you not? You do see how this is a manufactured crisis precisely designed to be used as blackmail, do you not?"
Alexandrovna points out that the Treasury's bailout proposal to Congress would provide the Treasury Secretary the power to buy up any assets he sees fit, hire anyone he wants to do it, appoint private companies as financial deputies and write whatever regulations he thinks are needed.
Furthermore, she points out that the bill states:
Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency.
Alexandrovna is echoing the comments of historian John Steele Gordon who told reporters "It sounds like Paulson is asking to be a financial dictator, for a limited period of time." She is also repeating a stark warning provided by Frank Razzano, a former assistant chief trial attorney at the Securities and Exchange Commission now at Pepper Hamilton LLP in Washington, who stated that the Bush administration is seeking "dictatorial power unreviewable by the third branch of government, the courts, to try to resolve the crisis."
As we have also reported, the $700 billion bailout legislation would provide billions to foreign central banks in addition to private foreign banks.
The proposed move represents a total shift of U.S. taxpayers' funds into the hands of powerful private interests, some of which do not even represent American companies.

I was sent the now notorious "police spotter card" through the post. It's an official laminated card for "police eyes only" and labelled as coming from "CO11 Public Order Intelligence Unit". The card contained the photographs of 24 anti-arms trade protesters, unnamed but lettered A to X. My picture appeared as photo H. You can imagine my reaction at finding I was the subject of a secret police surveillance process %u2026 I was delighted. I phoned my agent and told him I was suspect H. He replied: "Next year we'll get you top billing %u2026 suspect A."
The Metropolitan police circulated the card specifically for the Docklands biannual arms fair in London to help its officers identify "people at specific events who may instigate offences or disorder". Which is such a flattering quote I am thinking of having it on my next tour poster. While being wanted outside the arms fair, I was legitimately inside researching a book on the subject, and uncovered four companies illegally promoting "banned" torture equipment. Questions were later asked in the Commons as to why HM Revenue & Customs and the police didn't spot it. Though, in fairness, none of the torture traders featured on the spotter card.
What exactly was I doing that was so awfully wrong as to merit this attention? Today's Guardian revelations of three secret police units goes some way to explain the targeting of protesters and raises worrying questions. The job of these units is to spy on protesters, and collate and circulate information about them. Protesters - or, as the police call them, "domestic extremists" - are the new "reds under the bed".
Many of those targeted by the police have committed no crime and are guilty only of non-violent direct action. So it is worth reminding ourselves that protest is legal. Sorry if this sounds obvious, but you might have gained the impression that if three police units are spying on and targeting thousands, then those people must be up to something illegal.

The very phrase "domestic extremist" defines protesters in the eyes of the police as the problem, the enemy. Spying on entire groups and organisations, and targeting the innocent, undermines not only our rights but the law - frightfully silly of me to drag this into an argument about policing, I know.
Protest is part of the democratic process. It wasn't the goodwill of politicians that led them to cancel developing countries' debt, but the protests and campaigning of millions of ordinary people around the world. The political leaders were merely the rubber stamp in the democratic process. Thus any targeting and treatment of demonstrators (at the G20 for example) that creates a "chilling effect" - deterring those who may wish to exercise their right to protest - is profoundly undemocratic.
No police, secret or otherwise, should operate without proper accountability. So how are these three units accountable? Who has access to the databases? How long does information remain in the system? What effect could it have on travel and future employment of those targeted? How closely do these units work with corporate private investigators, and does the flow of information go both ways? Do the police target strikers?
A police spokesman has said that anyone who finds themselves on a database "should not worry at all". When a spokesman for the three secret units will not disclose a breakdown of their budgets, and two of the three will not even name who heads their operations (even MI6 gave us an initial, for God's sake), then the words "should not worry at all" are meaningless. Indeed, when the police admit that someone could end up on a secret police database merely for attending a demonstration, it is exactly the time to worry.
