The Talk of the Town: Workboxes

Workboxes, workboxes workboxes! That is a key term you will very likely encounter if you visit any homeschooling websites or blogs lately. Workboxes are an organizational system used with any curriculum that helps foster independent work habits and a well-structured school day. This lens will attempt to capture the Tweets and postings about what's in and what's out, and what's going on with the box.

Sue Patrick first developed this system for her autistic son. What she found though was that it could help children become more independent with their school day. Her book explains why the workboxes work, what you will need to get started, and how to structure your day.

Adding Games to the Boxes

Math is not my strong-point, therefore it takes a real effort for me to present it enthusiastically to my children. I have found that playing games helps me make math fun and create good memories with my children. So whatever subject or topic you find you or your child less than enthusiastic about, trying teaching with games.

I don't have kids so I don't know anything about homeschooling, but I keep running into it here on Squidoo. I'm wondering how some of these methods would work for adults trying to learn something and/or stay focused/organized. Seems like a lot more fun and creative way to do things. 5*

:) I don't have a workbox tip. I do have a squidoo tip. You're so good at HTML that you have sideskipped one of the features of squidoo that makes interlinking related lenses look WAY better: the featured lenses module. More great squidoo modules: http://www.squidoo.com/squido-modules
