"This was the updated version of the Hayward pump I already had been using for over 7 years on my 27' above ground pool. It arrived quickly and installed within 20 minutes. The previous pump bearings were going out which was the reason for the replacement. This new pump is whisper quiet. Hayward has a great reputation and their quality on their new pumps are excellent. I would recommend this pump to anyone looking to replace their old one. I saved over $100 by buying through Amazon versus my retail pool supply dealer, and they (my retailer) are reasonable."

Pool Pumps
In order to choose the correct pool pump for your swimming pool, you will need to know how much water you need to move, how far to move it and how fast, as well as water resistance. These measurements are known as 'flow rate', measured in gallons, and 'head', measured in gallons per minute (gpm.) Pool requirements will vary according to the shape and size of the pool, but as a rule of thumb, a pool should have two filter cycles per day, and a rate of 4-6 hours. Flow rate can be determined by calculating the number of gallons of water in the pool and dividing by the number of hours per cycle. (Divide by 60 to calculate the flow rate in gallons per minute.) Pool size in gallons can be calculated by measuring the volume in cubic feet and multiplying by 7.5. Pump manufacturers produce charts to help you decide which pump will suit your pool.
If your old pump did the job well, you may find it simpler to replace it with a similar model which is slightly more efficient.

"Started with the standard cartridge filter that was included in pool. Had slime on sides of the pool after the first day. Cartridge plugged up rapidly, and didn't keep pool clean. After 4 days, pool was completely green.
Installed this filter, turned it on that evening. Next morning water was clear. Had to brush sides and bottom to loosen algae, which were all removed by the next day. After one month, it still keeps the water sparkly clear, no slime on pool sides.
Recommend it highly."

"After realizing how much electricity my swimming pool pump was using, I started seeing about replacing it with a more efficient one. I decided on the Pentair Intelliflo 011013 and had it installed almost 2 months ago. I have been very pleased with it and according to my calculations,my electricity usage has decreased about 20 kWh/day,which in our area is about $2.20,or about $65.00/month in the swimming season.It is very quiet. I run my pump about 16 hours/day during the season and 8-10 hours/day in the off-season. Of course it will take a while to pay for itself,but so far I'm happy. "

"Great pump so far. Pushes water out my one jet into my 24' round above ground pool like a fire hose. This 1.5 horse has twice the flow of my old 2hp pump. Pool has been clean and clear all summer, gives great suction for vacuuming pool bottom. Only dislike is the O ring in the lid which fall out when removing. You must replace and make sure it is seated when replacing top or it will leak. Other than that, great item. Hope it last longer than six months like my last two cheaper pumps."
