I have traditionally been a fan of the Sharp, or Sony TV's, however, I was looking for a TV to fit in a cabinet in my bedroom. I wanted to get the largest one that would fit my space restrictions. The Samsungs, in general, seem to sit lower on their stands than most other brands and really provided the only 32 inch option that would fit my height restrictions. I sure am glad this was the case.

This TV is wonderful. The best part is the picture. It just looks great. The swivel stand is a very nice touch too. I hadn't been looking for it, but it is quite useful as the TV is not directly in front of the bed. The settings and adjustments available are plentiful and adequate. The menus to access them are clean and intuitive.

I've never owned a Samsung product, and have normally purchased Sony products. However, due to price increases by Sony, I decided to consider options. My satellite installer stated that Samsung & Sony were considered to be two of the highest rated HD t.v.'s.

The picture quality is AMAZING! Especially when watching Blu Rays. I now truly enjoy watching movies at home. The sound was much much better than I thought it would be after reading others reviews. However, I did buy a Bose computer speaker system to enhance my movie watching enjoyment. This is my bedroom tv so I didn't see a need for a whole surround sound setup. It does take a few seconds to power up but I don't get anxious for it. Other people make it sound like they are missing the first 5 minutes of a show or something. It is literally like a 5 second wait but worth it for energy saving. I hate how long it takes to change the channel on any TV these days but I have a TIVO so I don't have to be annoyed by that feature. Everyone who comes over comments on how much they like my tv. Some have went and bought one after seeing how nice this one is. I did a lot of research before deciding and am very happy with my decision.

Customer Review #2 : Great TV, but a Few Issues
First, let me say this TV excels on many levels. Picture quality is great, pre-set picture settings are almost spot on, but plenty of flexibility to adjust, decent off-angel viewing, matte screen deals well w/ bright lighting (we have a lamp directly across from the TV and only notice a reflection in truly dark scenes), and of course the long history of Sony quality standing behind it. However, unless the 120hz is a must for you, see if you can get your hands on a XBR6 on clearance. The XBR9 doesn't add much more, and you do lose some features, like the on-screen tv guide, PAP/PIP, and the proprietary input for things like the ipod dock, etc.
Minor Issues: Sound quality is decent for a TV of this size, but audiophiles will want to add an external speaker system. The bezel is highly reflective, which can be distracting depending on the lighting in the room. Another thing to note is that the input menu has to be navigated with the arrow keys on the remote - can't just keep hitting the input button to scroll through - so depending on your satellite or cable remote, like us (we have DirectTV), you may not be able to use it to change inputs, and will have to use the Sony remote to switch b/t the SD box and HD antenna.
Major Issue: The biggest drawback on this set, for me, is the function that automatically adjusts the backlight based on screen brightness, and, so far, we cannot find any way to shut this off.

The LG provides a very clear picture for upscaled DVD movies and over the air digital signals. The speakers provide excellent sound for a small living room although the addition of a home theater system would substantially increase movie enjoyment. Standard definition signals also reproduce a stable clear picture. Colors are very good and the set provides sufficient tools to tweak the picture for personal preference. I have not used it for bluray as yet but HD from satellite is very good. The features of this unit described on the Amazon specifications list accurately describe its features and can be relied upon. I am not a hard core cinema/video buff but I cannot imagine that this unit will not satisfy most viewers who want a well priced midsized flat screen high definition TV. My five stars are based upon what I expect in similarly designed and priced units for a smaller room.
