The latest on computer software is that there is new computer security software that is now available! After I do an operating system installation, the first thing that I am concerned about is computer security. I normally disconnect the system from the internet until computer security is installed.

I was using a popular brand antivirus program on my computer for years. As I got each new release from year to year, it seemed like my computer was getting slower and slower. I did an analysis of the processes on my system, and I learned that my antivirus program was hogging a big portion of my computer time. It was light on system resources, and it found some problems that I didn't realize were there. I have been using CounterSpy since then, and when Sunbelt Vipre was released in July, I snapped it up. It is described as being much faster than previous versions, and it comes with an anti-spam engine and a parental control feature.

McAfee Total Protection 2009 is described as being faster and easier to use than previous versions. In addition to the antivirus and antispyware protection, it has a new Quick Scan, a network manager, web site safety ratings, a anti-phishing feature, a file shredder, automated tools to keep your Pc running at peak performance, parental controls, data backup, and identity protection.

Symantec has just released Norton Internet Security 2009. Symantec claims that Norton Internet Security 2009 is the fastest security suite available. Norton features pulse updates every 5 to 15 minutes, intelligence-driven scans, identity theft blocking, email protection, secure networking, and a two-way firewall.
