I LOVE TACOS!
I love American style Tacos too like Taco Time, Taco Bell and Del Taco. But you would mostly catch me at a taco stand ordering my Mexican Tacos!
My FAMOUS Taco Recipes!
Use Caution and Common sense when cooking because grease/oil may splatter!
Chopped Veggie Taco Recipe
2 Serrano Chiles
1/4 Sweet Yellow Onion
2 Roma Tomatoes
1/4 c of Vegetable Oil
1 Pack of Stir Fry Meat
1 Pack of Corn Tortillas
Salt to taste
Chop the Serrano Chiles, 1/4 sweet onion and two roma tomatoes in a bowl - add salt. Add oil to frying pan and until hot. When hot add meat with salt and cook on medium heat for 15 minutes. After meat has fried (I prefer mine a little burnt), add vegetables and simmer on medium heat for 10 minutes. Once you finish letting it simmer, place corn in another pan and let grill till tortilla is soft.
Place meat in tortilla and serve! Add Optional avocado slices for taste.
*I like to use the grease from the meat and veggies and dip the tortilla in it and add more salt and then grill. It adds more flavor.
Blended Sauce Taco Recipe
1 Pack of Stir Fry
1/4 of Sweet Yellow Onion
2 Roma Tomatoes
2 Serrano Chiles
Salt to taste
1 Pack of Corn Tortillas
1 Avocado
Add cut Roma Tomatoes, Onion, Serrano Chiles, salt, and a 2 tablespoons of water. Blend till sauce type texture appears.
Put stir fry meat in hot oil frying pan until well cooked (I prefer mine a little burnt). Add blended sauce to meat and simmer on medium for 10 minutes.
Then pour sauce meat onto plate and serve with grilled tortillas and avocado.
My American taco recipe I got from a family member that I enjoy!
1lb of Ground Beef
1 Pack of Shredded Cheese
1 Pack of Corn Tortillas
1 tub of Sour Cream
1 bottle of store bought salsa
Add salt to taste
Fry beef in frying pan until cooked. Separate meat and grease. Place meat on paper towel. Add oil to frying pan and get it get hot. Get corn tortilla and place meat in it(tortilla is not very flexible - you may need to curve so it doesn't break) Dip center of tortilla in oil until fried, then lay tortilla flat on its one side until friend then opposite side until fried.
Then add shredded cheese, sour cream and salsa as desired and serve!
Taco Recommendations and Suggestions
When I first started making my tacos, I had used Stew meat, not a very good option. I also tried just regular steak meat. Also not a good meat option.
Recommended Meats:
1) Eye of Round Thin or Regular
2) Stir Fry Meat (Comes already cut)
*You could also request that the butcher chop it for you or ask if they have anymore meat in the back if there is no more upfront.
Meat Substitutes that also work well are:
1) Chicken
2) Eggs
Recommended Oil is Vegetable Oil unless you are wanting to use less fat than I reccommend Olive or Canola Oil.
Tomato Recommendation is Roma or home grown tomatoes have tasted the best.
If you think that Serrano Chilies are too spicy then I recommend you substitute it with Jalapenos Chilies.
I highly recommend Yellow Onions! They taste the best, the sweeter you want your tacos the sweeter the onion (yellow).

- Wow -- tacos -- who doesn't love tacos? It's been quite a while since I made these at home -- usually get these out. Good to have a recipe. I see you've been on Squidoo since late 2007 -- looking forward to seeing more lenses from you. ;)

- Yum, tacos! I have a baked taco-ish recipe from Oaxaca with corn tortillas [soften up first in a frying pan with butter], ground beef, tomatoes, cheese of choice, sour cream, shredded lettuce -- all the usual ingredients. Only instead of frying, you bake everything at 350 degrees Fahrenheit in a baking dish for about 1/2 hour. It's so incredibly good.
