Women's Luggage and How it has Changed

Luggage used to be non-gender when it came to being designed. You could buy luggage that was meant to be used by anyone. Men were not separated from women and even children had no options. Today's luggage is designed with specific genders in mind. Men's luggage is masculine and strong, children's luggage is rugged with characters from their favorite television characters and women's luggage is colorful, sturdy and easy to handle.

Women's luggage is designed to be lightweight and easy to maneuver when handling more than one case. The in-line wheels make it easy to roll the luggage for the bags that are extra heavy. Telescoping handles allow you to pull your bags with ease at a comfortable height and expansion bags allow for additional packing that old traditional bags did not allow. More and more companies are designing cases that women can use for cosmetics that helps in protecting your bottles. In some instances they even include clear plastic bags with plastic bottles for more convenient air travel.

You can still purchase hard plastic or hard vinyl luggage but the most popular type is soft sided luggage. The hard sided bags are slightly heavier than the soft sided bags and they are easier to damage than the softer versions. For instance, a hard sided bag that is placed on something bluntly pointed will puncture or crack where a soft sided bag will give to accommodate the protruding extremity. Vinyl or soft sided luggage has external zippered pockets as well as internal pockets for packing things like socks, underwear and bras. Some upright pieces have hooks for hangers and a fold down flap so that hanged clothing is not wrinkled.

There is so much variety in today's women's luggage in terms of the different types of bags you can buy. Laptop bags are designed in matching materials to go with your other luggage. Briefcases are not longer made with only men in mind either. Manufacturers produce nice looking, functional women's briefcases that can be carried on the shoulder and has multiple pockets inside for pens, papers, cell phone and other necessities. And for the really busy women who multi task, they even make a laptop brief which can carry not only your laptop but your important papers and business cards as well. These types of bags can be purchased in colors, floral designs, leather, vinyl and different designs for just about any taste.

Luggage has changed in so many ways and the ability to find what you want when you need it has also changed. Today's luggage is not only sold in department stores or specialty shops, many online retailers carry a huge variety to select from as well. Some sites even offer huge discounts on luggage sets as well as individual pieces. You can shop conveniently from the desk of your office or in person. The web sites that carry women's luggage offer fast shipping and secure online payment with secure servers. Next time you are in need of a new piece of luggage, consider shopping at an online retailer.
