Don't Wait for Wrinkles to Appear

What's that twenty-something girl doing in the anti-aging skin care aisle?

She's buying some "wrinkle insurance" by starting early to prevent lines and skin damage. You may feel like those crow's feet popped up overnight, but they started forming during years of bad choices and neglect.

That's why the younger you start paying attention to anti-aging skin protection methods, the less you'll have to battle wrinkles later.

Wrinkle prevention begins with establishing a daily ritual of cleansing, moisturizing and applying a rich emollient night cream.

You have to choose products that are suited to your skin - dry, oily or sensitive. Forget the bonus gift - if the product isn't made for your skin type then it's no bargain. The easiest wrinkle prevention tip is to put on a high SPF sunscreen every time you go outside, even if you're only driving.

Sun exposure, particularly at midday, bombards the skin with damaging ultra violet rays. For extra protection, wear a hat or visor.  Smoking restricts blood vessels which can cause wrinkles on skin all over the body.

Drinking alcohol, caffeine stimulant drinks and coffee can also alter body chemicals in ways that show up as facial lines. Other innocent things that set up the face for wrinkles are using straws, pillows and sleep deprivation.

Sipping through a straw uses the same lip-pursing motion as smoking and can also cause wrinkles. Change pillowcases weekly to avoid re-exposing your face to dirt and natural oils.

While sleeping, your skin renews and produces new cells. Today's all-nighter is setting up tomorrow's wrinkles.  Wrinkle prevention starts early, but you can implement an anti-aging strategy at any age to stave off further damage to your face.

Facial Exercises That Prevent Wrinkles

Without going to the gym, you can tone your facial muscles. No matter how hard you work to keep your body buff, you'll look older than your years if your face is wrinkled. Start with a daily facial exercise routine and wrinkle prevention strategy.

Borrowing from Yoga is the Lion Movement. Open your eyes and mouth as wide as possible and stick out your tongue, holding the position for ten seconds, and then repeat.

The Lion releases facial tension. Then relax the forehead by moving your eyebrows lower and scrunching your nose several times to ease forehead muscles. Work out the cheek muscles by smiling, then slowly moving your lips into a pout.

Hold it for ten seconds, and then slowly return to a big smile and repeat this ten times.

To tame a double chin... stand or sit straight while pressing your lower lip as far over the top lip as possible. Then raise your head - looking upward for five seconds as you feel the stretch in your neck. Gently lower your head. Repeat this neck stretch twice daily, increasing repetitions.

To smooth out crow's feet... wink one eyelid just short of closing fully. Hold that position for five seconds, then repeat with the other eye. Aim for 20 repetitions twice daily. Be careful not to squeeze the eyelid, which worsens crow's feet.

Make sure you get a formidable anti aging wrinkle cream to apply to your face after you do your facial exercises. This will repair the damage you've done and help your skin achieve a youthful appearance.

Products to Hydrates and Nourish Your Face to Prevent Wrinkles

How many times have you heard that drinking 6-8 glasses of water daily is good for your body? Have you also heard that your face needs hydration too?

Keeping your body hydrated certainly helps, but your facial skin needs even more direct hydration with moisturizing skin care products.

Sticking your face under the shower isn't the way to hydrate it. In fact, if the water is too hot, you could be doing more damage than benefit. Facial skin needs daily moisturizer in the morning after cleansing and before applying makeup.

Make sure to choose a moisturizer suited for your skin - either dry, oily or sensitive. Men and women can get double benefit by using a moisturizer that contains sunscreen. At night after cleansing, you need to apply a rich, emollient night cream.

This cream is more than moisturizer to help the skin cell renewal process that occurs during sleep. A good anti aging wrinkle cream contains emollients to nourish, glycerin to restore elasticity and possibly Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) for a dose of Vitamin C.

Herbal night creams may contain aloe and shea butter, which are natural emollients. Anti aging wrinkle creams to treat under eye wrinkles are slightly more expensive - but only a small amount is needed to make a big difference.

Don't use general facial moisturizer around delicate eye areas. That area lacks oil glands and can dry out from using the wrong skin care products.

The only way to keep your health is to eat what you don't want, drink what you don't like, and do what you'd rather not.

Beauty Tip of the Day

Find clothes that fit your image. Whether your look is professional, casual, preppy, punk, emo, country-western, urban or some combination of these, your clothes will help communicate who you are, and who you want to be.
