Betfair Trading Strategies

Most sports bettors are familiar with the traditional forms of betting, either a straight back bet on a selection or some more exotic bet like a Trixie, a Double or any other exotic bet (with increasingly unlikely probabilities of winning). Since Betfair opened its virtual doors many people have discovered newer ways of betting: not only laying a selection, but backing and laying at appropriate times and prices to ensure a profit (if done right).

In theory what you need to do is back a selection at a price you figure is reasonably high, wait for the price to drop and then laying the same selection at a lower price. Depending on your
approach and profit targets, you can back and lay with the same stake, thus securing a profit with no possibility of a losing anything IF your selection wins (or places in the case of horse racing). The other option is to hedge your bets, i.e. backing and laying with different stake sizes, thus securing a profit regardless of outcome. As with traditional sports betting, merely flipping a coin and deciding where (or when) to place your bet is not going to pay for any vacations in the Greek Islands. What you need is patience, some handy resources, a decent sized betting bank, and well-worked out trading strategies.
