Beth Moore Bible Studies

A bible study with Beth Moore may take many forms. This is because each person may be looking for something different, and it is helpful to have several different options available. However, it can also be a bit confusing when you decide you want to start a study. Which bible study materials do you choose? Do you need the dvd series to go along with a particular book or will it stand on its own? These are types of questions that those who have wanted to work on a Beth Moore bible study have often asked. I hope to help in this process by first explaining the typical ways in which she presents her studies.

Leader Kit
The leader kit is typically ordered by a church for either Sunday School or small group studies. The kit has several components usually including the dvd series, leader guide, member book, and sometimes a promo video you can show to your church to get them interested in attending the study.

Leader Book
The leader book can be ordered on its own if you want. It includes questions to get your small group talking and discussing the topics as well as tips. This isn't necessarily the best choice for a study you wish to do on your own.

Member Book
The member book is typically ordered by each member of a small group or Sunday School class. It can also be done on your own at home. However, there are questions throughout the book that are difficult or impossible to answer without the dvd or cd of the series. While I have done these independently, some parts you may have to skip.

90 Day Devotionals
One of my favorite ways of doing a bible study on my own with Beth Moore, this is a 90 day devotional that isn't your typical devotional. Each devotion may be from 3-5 pages although the pages are not long. They do require application and participation on your part. She wants you to go beyond nice thoughts to carry throughout the day to real bible study on a daily basis. These devotionals are not too much to make it discouraging and not too short to where you don't get any real biblical bread and butter.

Stand Alone Books
Many of Beth's bible studies come in book form as well so that you can read the study without any real application on your part. I have read several of her books this way and have enjoyed them. I have also read some of the books after having done a more in-depth study just to keep the ideas and thoughts fresh in my mind.

DVD Set
Beth Moore's studies usually have a DVD set that you can purchase. This DVD set is also included in the Leader's Kit. However, it can be purchased by one person if they want.

CD Set
The CD set is the same as the DVD set except for it is audio only with no video. I do like to get these from time to time so that I can listen to them in the car on my way to work. I have also purchased these sets before along with a member book so I can do a study on my own.

Smaller Daily Devotional
Beth will often have daily devotionals that take quotes out of her books on a particular subject and make them part of a devotional for that day. These are nice for those who want a small devotional to do in the morning when they don't have time for a more in-depth devotional.

Beth Moore also has a number of stand alone books and devotionals that are not attached to any particular bible study series. Hopefully this overview will help you sort through which option will be best for you. Keep in mind that you don't have to do just one, and just because you decide to do a book this time doesn't mean you can do a devotional next time. You may find that you enjoy doing only one type of bible study or you like to do several different types at a time. Find whatever works best for you and go with it.
