Bethenny Filming a Talk Show Pilot
June 15, 2011

- Bethenny Frankel Already Taping Talk Show Pilot - Hollywood Reporter
- Cameras have already started rolling on Bethenny Frankel's new talk show pilot, sources have confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Telepictures produced pilot tapped the former Real Housewives of New York star to host an advice-based talk show that began taping earlier this month. Sources have also confirmed that fellow Telepictures talk show host and producer Ellen DeGeneres is involved with the project.
"I want to be on TV in a format where I can have a longer conversation with my fans rather than 140 characters on Twitter," Frankel said during an interview with THR earlier this year. "It probably will be a talk show."
Telepictures, an extension of Warner Bros., is the brain trust behind such successful series' as The Tyra Banks Show, Lopez Tonight and Ellen. Last fall, DeGeneres inked a new deal with the company committing the host to a multiyear production contract that would allow DeGeneres to develop original scripted, reality and cable programming for Warner Bros TV and Warner Horizon.
During a recent appearance on Ellen, Frankel (who has now been a guest on the show four times) discussed how those closest to her are familiar with her often-irrational behavior. "I'm working with you now," DeGeneres revealed about their professional relationship while intending to set up the subsequent joke. "So now I'm questioning it."
The show's format calls for multiple segments to be produced, according to a source, some of which have yet to be taped. If ordered to series, the project will most likely be filmed in New York, a source says, but an official decision has not been made.

Bethenny Tried to Sabotage RHONYC?
June 10, 2011
- Did Bethenny Frankel Try to Sabotage The Real Housewives of New York City? | Reality TV Magazine
- Did Skinnygirl Bethenny Frankel try to ruin Bravo's Real Housewives of New York City? Sources say that the margarita maven and her "peeps" were behind media reports that the show would tank after she left to star in her spin-off Bethenny Ever After (formerly known as Bethenny Getting Married?). Find out more after the jump!
"During filming and again prior to our fourth season airing, many articles popped up stating that RHONY would flop after Bethenny's departure," a member of The Real Housewives of New York City's current cast tells Popeater's Rob Shuter. "Many of these seemed to be veiled leaks by B and her team, designed to hurt us and boost her own spin off. Unfortunately for them, those plans didn't pan out."
While the ladies of Manhattan have seen their ratings grow continuously, the second season of Bethenny Frankel's reality series, Bethenny Ever After, has dropped 22% since its debut and has an audience that's 40% smaller than RHONY, which pulled in over 2.28 viewers with last week's episode.
"Bethenny saw herself as the star of that show and assumed without her, less people would watch," says another insider from the network. "This is Bethenny's worst nightmare. She would have liked nothing more than the show to fail without her. She desperately wants her own reality show about her new married life with her baby to kick Jill Zarin and the other ladies' asses."
Of course, "poor" ratings are no bueno for the Skinnygirl, but by no means is the news detrimental to her success.
The latest season of Bethenny Ever After averaged 1.45 million viewers per episode, and has already been renewed for season 3.
The Real Housewives of New York City may be winning the ratings game, but with all due respect to the "Bravo insider" that's running to the press with accusations of sabotage, even if this is Bethenny Frankel's "worst nightmare," she's got about $120 million to dry her tears when she wakes up at 3 a.m. in a cold sweat. We think she'll be just fine!

Ramona Denies Bethenny Sold Skinnygirl Brand for $120 Million

- 'Housewives of NYC' denies Bethenny Frankel's $120 million | HollywoodNews.com
- It was recently rumored that Bethenny Frankel sold her Skinnygirl cocktail line for about $120 million, but her former 'Real Housewives of New York City' castmate Ramona Singer isn't buying it.
Singer believes that the figure is a bit exaggerated, states PopEater. "I was thinking before that figure came out she got about $30 million total," Singer commented, adding that the money would then be split with others involved in the product.
It has been reported that the line was sold to Beam Global, but the figures have not been confirmed.

Bethenny Talks About Bryn's 1st Birthday

- Bethenny Frankel Appreciates Gift of Baby - OK! Magazine - The First for Celebrity News
- When Bethenny Frankel's daughter Bryn turns 1 on Sunday, she'll get A-list treatment even though she won't remember it.
"We are having a birthday party for Bryn at Dylan's Candy Bar," she tells me at The Candie's Foundation's 10th Anniversary of the Event To Prevent held this week in NYC. "Just because I don't like my birthday has nothing to do with her, and I want her to have the pictures later to see all the balloons and how fun it was."
But that's not all the reality star and hubby Jason Hoppy have in store for their little girl.
"We'll walk around downtown. Hopefully it's nice out. We'll probably go get some sangria, take the baby, go to a swing set and just have lunch outside."
Tonight Bethenny serves as an auctioneer dishing up humor in a bid to raise money for the cause, riffing on Bruno Mars lyrics, offering to strip, and saying "I spent my entire single life begging for money."
Preventing teen pregnancy is a cause Bethenny cares about deeply.
"A teenage girl is not responsible enough to have a baby emotionally, financially, and it's not giving yourself the best shot at life, nor your baby," she tells me. "It's selfish, it's irresponsible and it needs to be something that more awareness is brought to. I think television is glamorizing it now, which is a disservice."
She adds, "I haven't watched Teen Mom, but I can only imagine it glamorizes something that is not glamorous because the girls are on a lot of magazines, so it makes people want to be like them, which is a terrible thing."
What prevented her from becoming a teen mom?
"Luck. Probably luck. It certainly wasn't a condom - it was probably luck."
Bethenny is certainly thrilled that her daughter came along later in life.
"My daughter's turning one year old on Mother's Day, and I'm a 40-year-old mother," she says. "I appreciate the gift of my baby, and the responsibility and what it means to be a mother. The Candie's Foundation is incredible because your have to be emotionally prepared and financially prepared. You have to be prepared for responsibility."
Bethenny Talks About "A Place of Yes"
April 29, 2011

- Reality Rules: Bethenny Frankel, 'A Place of Yes' | Styles | Express Night Out
- She cooks, she does yoga, and she takes care of a baby on national television. Now, reality star-turned-branding goddess Bethenny Frankel releases her first self-help book "A Place of Yes: 10 Rules for Getting Everything You Want Out of Life" ($25, Simon & Schuster). Drawing on life experiences such as an audition for '90s teen soap "California Dreams," she offers rules for life such as "Find Your Truth" and "Separate From the Pack." More truisms follow.
How did you develop these rules?
I thought about how I got here. I asked, "How did this happen?" How did I go from a negative $50,000 tax return to here? From being alone to being married to my amazing husband? I thought about how I became fearless, and, through writing the book, I put names on the rules.
How does one become fearless?
You have to get honest with yourself and act on it. Frankly, you could want to be a soccer mom or marry someone rich. It doesn't matter. Rather than spending half your life trying to want something you don't want, why not just say, "I want to live in the suburbs. I want a wealthy husband, an easy life, kids"? Whatever. You have to be honest, then go after what you want.
A lot of reality stars pen self-help books. Are there too many?
I have no idea. I don't think about what anyone else is doing. But this book is different. I don't believe that if you just wish something to happen, it's going to happen. [My book] solves a problem for women. I wrote it from my real experiences.
What do you wish you knew at 25?
When I was 25, I just wanted to be married and have my life tied up in a perfect bow. But I knew I wanted a career and a relationship, and I wasn't willing to give up on either. But the good news is you have your whole life to be married. So just relax. You have your whole life to go to Target and fill your car up with diapers like I did today.
You tried your hand at acting. Do you ever wish you had stuck with it?
No, not really. I would rather be myself on TV and be able to help women by being honest. Regardless of how much money you're making, actors have to play somebody else, so you don't get to explore and experience who you are. You don't get to have your water break on TV or promote your own business.
Being a writer, do you read a lot?
I don't. I wish I read more. I took my baby down to Miami for five days recently, and what was I doing in my downtime? Playing with her. I'm not going to put her down to read a book.
But you're really into fitness. How do you make time to exercise?
Working out at home has changed everything. Maybe it's a little antisocial, but when the baby naps, my husband and I will work out or do yoga. We try to work it in. It's easier if you know you're going to get to it.

Bethenny on Juggling Motherhood & Career
April 27, 2011

- Bethenny Frankel takes care of business and plays the doting mother | Mail Online
- She's managed to build a $120m fortune off the back of her reality TV fame.
So to perhaps should come as little surprise that Bethenny Frankel is good at multi-tasking.
The 40-year-old former Real Housewives of New York star was spotted out and about in the Big Apple yesterday proving to be the consummate businesswoman/ mother.
Bethenny was seen wheeling her one-year-old daughter Bryn Hoppy in her push chair, while chatting on her phone - and keeping her personal assistant in check.
She looked stylish in a white ensemble, teamed with gold jewellery, as sorted out her affairs while on the go.
Bethenny admitted in a recent interview that she signed on to join Real Housewives of New York in 2008 as a strategic move to bolster her business ambitions.
The entrepreneur, now a married mother of one, was hesitant to participate in the show when Bravo executives approached her in 2007.
But in what proved to be a very savvy move, she decided to use the screen-time as a platform to launch her Skinnygirl empire instead of 'running around buying diamonds and getting facials' like some of her co-stars.
'I was worried [joining the cast] would ruin what I had going,' says Frankel, who at the time was a Pepperidge Farm spokesperson and appeared on NBC's Today show for a cooking segment.
'I went on the show single-handedly and exclusively for business%u2026 When I went on the show, no one was going on for business, no one had done anything.'
She tells the Hollywood Reporter: 'I just decided to be totally honest and own it. You can't do something you don't stand for just to make money. It's a smart audience, people will realize it.'
Frankel, a natural foods chef, took advantage of the exposure provided to her during three seasons on the show and went on to launch a series of dieting books, a workout DVD and a lingerie line.
Earlier this year her Skinnygirl cocktail line, which featuring a 100-calorie margarita, was acquired by the world's fourth-largest spirits company, Fortune Brands' Beam Global for a rumoured price tag of $120 million.
She says her earlier attempts to pitches to liquor companies were dismissed.
'Instead of giving up, I said, "I want this, and I know other women will want this, so I'm going to make it."'
'Now, every company I pitched this idea to has either tried to buy Skinnygirl or has copied it,' she says.
'I created a sub-category that never existed. I wasn't an expert - I was just another person bothered by a 700-calorie margaritas.'
After leaving the Real Housewives last year, she went on to land her own reality show, Bethenny Getting Married? and a second series called Bethenny Ever After.
Frankel and her husband, businessman Jason Hoppy, have a one-year-old daughter, Bryn.

Post-Baby Bethenny Could've Gone Forever Without Sex
April 20, 2011

- Bethenny Frankel on Sex Post-Baby: "I Could Have Gone Forever Not Having Sex"
- Bethenny Frankel is really good at being very frank - even when it comes to talking about sex with her husband post-baby!
We wonder how Bethenny's husband, Jason Hoppy, feels about this interview?
The Bravo star opened up to Redbook about what sex was like for her after giving birth to her daughter, Bryn.
"It was like sticking my foot in a pool of cold water," Bethenny tells Redbook. "I could have gone on forever not having sex. It wasn't a personal thing toward my husband - I think Jason's the sexiest man alive. But it was kind of nice to be like, 'Nope, store's closed.' "
Bethenny gave birth to her daughter via C-section, but still said it was painful to have sex after.
"It doesn't matter where the baby comes out; they still cut stuff," she says. "It was kind of like being a virgin. We had to tread lightly."
But Bethenny works hard with her husband to set the mood.
"If it's date night, I'm putting on lingerie and we're having sex," Bethenny says. "If it's the weekend and our schedules aren't crazy, we're having sex. But the fact that I'm even using the term 'date night' shows how different things are now."
And they may still try for baby number-two!
"We throw caution to the wind and use the withdrawal method now," she says. "If we got pregnant again, we'd be happy."
Bethenny Gets a Talk Show!
April 6, 2011

- Bethenny Frankel Gets Her Own Talk Show! - iVillage
- "I would like a daytime talk show," reality star Bethenny Frankel told Popeater in February. "Most of my business wishes come true," she added. Less than two months later, that one's already come to fruition.
According to RumorFix, Frankel's dreamed-about talk show is already in development, and is being backed by Telepictures, the production company behind The Ellen DeGeneres Show and Tyra.
Frankel already headlines her own Bravo show, Bethenny Ever After, which chronicles her daily life with her new husband, Jason Hoppy, since leaving The Real Housewives of New York. The show just got renewed for a third season.
So why does Frankel need another one? "My TV show communicates what I'm doing," she said of Bethenny Ever After. "But it isn't really a dialogue or a conversation (with my fans)."
It's actually not a surprising choice for Frankel, who cannily chronicled her recent stint on ABC's Skating With the Stars on Bethenny Ever After. (Oh, the cross-promotional synergy of it! TV execs must love this woman.) This is one former Housewife who always dreamed big: She's been an overachiever since we first saw her on The Apprentice: Martha Stewart in 2005. (Click here for more on her various professional projects.)
TV cameras are second nature to her, and her quick wit and camera-friendly looks will serve her well in a talk-show setting. Of course, she'll need to be on her game: Many have tried and failed to entertain the public this way, and there are a lot of contenders vying to fill the Oprah void right now, including Katie Couric and Ricki Lake.
But as Frankel says, most of her business wishes come true. No doubt her next wish involves big ratings for her new show.

Bethenny Sells Skinnygirl Margarita Brand
March 21, 2011

- Bethenny Frankel Cashes In on Skinnygirl Brand
- This is the year for Bethenny Frankel, the former Real Housewives of New York reality-star-turned-entrepreneur. The Wall Street Journal reported Monday that Frankel's Skinnygirl brand, the low-calorie ready-made cocktail line she launched in 2009, was acquired by Fortune Brands' Beam Global, a major player in the spirits market, which manufactures brands such as Jim Beam bourbon and Sauza tequila. The actual amount of the deal was undisclosed, however, the Journal reports that the Skinnygirl Margarita ranked fourth in sales of ready-to-drink cocktails in food, drug and liquor stores in the 13 weeks ending Feb. 5, according to market researcher Nielsen Co. Revenue for Skinnygirl was also undisclosed, but Beam Global said sales of the product, which retails for $14 to $15 a bottle, have topped 100,000 cases a year.
With the acquisition, Beam Global hopes to capitalize on the emerging market of low-calorie liquor. Frankel's Skinnygirl Margarita boasts just 100 calories per four-ounce serving. According to the terms of the deal, Frankel will remain heavily involved in the direction of the company and will continue to promote the product and work to expand her line of low-calorie cocktails under the Skinnygirl brand name.
Frankel, who got her own reality show on Bravo last year called Bethenny Getting Married about her journey to marriage, is currently starring in its second season, named Bethenny Ever After. The season so far tracks her busy life as a newlywed, mom, and now budding entrepreneur. In a recent episode of the show, Frankel admitted to having challenges with distribution for Skinnygirl, and the episode followed her as she figured out the adjustments she needed to make to the business model. Currently, the product has distribution at select independent liquor stores throughout the United States and is also sold at Costco. With the acquisition, Beam Global hopes to build on the already explosive growth of the brand and help to expand its distribution along with introducing other drinks under the label.
"To us, this is the beginning of what we hope will be a very big category," Bill Newlands, president for North America for Beam Global, told the Journal. "We think [Skinnygirl] is a tremendous platform to put other premium, convenient, low-calorie products on the market."
