Mystery Author Beth Groundwater

Beth Groundwater writes two mystery series, the Claire Hanover gift basket designer series and the Rocky Mountain Outdoor Adventures series starring whitewater river ranger Mandy Tanner. The first book in her Claire Hanover series, A REAL BASKET CASE, was released in hardcover in 2007 and will be re-released in trade paperback and ebook in November this year. The book garnered good reviews from Booklist, Kirkus Reviews, and other national reviewers and was nominated for the 2007 Best First Novel Agatha Award. The second book in the series, TO HELL IN A HANDBASKET, was released in hardcover in 2009, also to good reviews, and will be re-released in trade paperback and ebook in the fall of 2012. A third book is in the pipeline.

The first book in Beth's Rocky Mountain Outdoor Adventures series, DEADLY CURRENTS, was released in trade paperback and ebook March, 2011 with good reviews from Booklist, Kirkus Reviews, Library Journal, Publishers Weekly, the Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine, and Mystery Scene, among many other reviewers. The second book in the series, WICKED EDDIES, will be released in May, 2012, and Beth has begun work on the third book. Beth was an avid "river rat" in the 1980s, running whitewater rivers in the eastern US, and enjoyed reacquainting herself with that subculture while researching this series. In June, she was the parade VIP for the First in Boating on the Arkansas River whitewater festival in Salida, Colorado, which is featured in DEADLY CURRENTS. Beth lives in Colorado and enjoys its many outdoor activities, including skiing and whitewater rafting.

Beth's science fiction novella, THE EPSILON ERIDANI ALTERNATIVE, was released in ebook and paperback 2009. Also, she has published nine short stories, many multiple times in various formats, including audio. Deadly Currents

the first book in the Rocky Mountain Outdoor Adventures mystery series

This first book in my new Rocky Mountain Outdoor Adventures mystery series starring Mandy Tanner, a whitewater river ranger, was released March 8, 2011. When Mandy rescues a man who fell out of a raft on the upper Arkansas River in Colorado and he dies on the river bank, she feels driven to find out what-or who-killed him.

"Groundwater (To Hell in a Handbasket, 2009, etc.) kicks off a new series that combines outdoor action with more than a modicum of old-fashioned detection."
-- Kirkus Reviews, January 15, 2011

"This enjoyable first in a new cozy series from Groundwater (To Hell in a Handbasket) introduces Mandy Tanner, "a brand new seasonal river ranger" on Colorado's Arkansas River."

To Hell in a Handbasket

the second book in the Claire Hanover gift basket designer mystery series

In this sequel to A Real Basket Case, Colorado Springs gift basket designer Claire Hanover takes a spring ski vacation in Breckenridge, Colorado, with her family. The vacation quickly goes to hell in a handbasket when the sister of her daughter's boyfriend' is killed on the ski slope. Others think an out-of-control snowboarder slammed into her, but just before the ski patrol arrived, Claire saw another pair of ski tracks that veered into the young woman's. Claire passes her findings on to an initially skeptical sheriff's detective. Confusing clues point to alternative scenarios for the young woman's death-which was definitely no accident-and put Claire's daughter, Judy, in the path of danger. As the spiral of intrigue winds tighter and other deaths occur, Claire must draw on inner reserves of strength to conquer not only the conspiracy but also the winter elements. And, like a mother bear, she must fiercely protect her independent-minded cub from harm.

"Groundwater's second leaves the bunny slope behind, offering some genuine black-diamond thrills."

Thanks, Franstan! I hope you enjoy them. They should be available in most libraries or via interlibrary loan, or in bookstores (if not, you can probably order them) or on-line book retailers.
