These people really know about Affiliate Marketing, and are a fantastic resource if you are really serious about it.

Affiliate Marketing is a merchant with a product and you (the affiliate) who acts like a virtual salesperson for the product. The merchant will provide a unique affiliate link, and then you will promote this link on the Internet. Every time someone clicks on this link and makes a purchase of the product, you (the affiliate) who directed the buyer will get a commission out of it.Why is Affiliate Marketing so hot?
Because the affiliate and the merchant both benefit from the sale.
For the merchant, affiliate marketing is a form of advertising for their product or service. The more affiliates they get, the higher the chances of the product being seen by potential customers. The merchant also pays the "fees" of advertising only when the affiliate sends customers to the product which then converts to a sale.
As an affiliate, all you need to do is to promote the unique link for the particular program you join on your website. Your job is to simply find as many prospects as possible and to convince them to buy the product! There is no need for you to develop your own product because there are thousands of affiliate programs to join.
