HERE'S WHAT I THINK

Horror Movies has there ever been a good one?

I'm a bit of a horror movie buff! However, I haven't been able to find one that actually gives me a good SCARE! I think the movie producers have run out of good ideas. I would love to write a horror movie that would scare the living s#*t out of people. I have a few ideas in my twisted little mind. What do you think?

Depends on whether your are "ready" to be scared.

I recall that I went to see "Alien" (I enjoy SiFi movies). I had read about the story prior to going. I was with friends and was "hyped" to be scared. I was not disappointment. And the most interesting aspect was the anticipation, that the actual gory stuff. It just made it better.

Yes, there are good horror movies, but I agree, it's rare that a horror movie actually frightens me. I get more of the creepy-icky feeling than any real fear. I think there's a difference between a good horror movie and a scary horror movie, and very few have succeeded in scaring me. :)

I love horror movies. The one movie that has been stuck with me ever sence i saw it was "Thirteen Ghosts" it scared the living daylights out of me. I think that producers do have to co up with some new ideas, but until then, i LOOOOOOOVE THE HORROR MOVIES that are out there.

There are so many great horror movies, it's hard to choose just one that is greater than another so I'm going to have to go with one that never gets boring no matter how many times I watch it. "The Shining", a timeless classic.

maybe not classed as scary anymore but if ur films are still being re-made and having more sequels added 30 years down the line u know u did a great job

Japanese originals are usually good, 13 ghosts had something about it too... unsettling and original i guess. The remake of house on hauted hill got me when i was younger, the whole mad surgeon ghost was cool

i found that newer ones are pretty good but most of the people annoy me in them. but not zombi movies those are always really good for gore and u just cant go wroug with them. dead house 2 was awesome for gore and a lil twisted.

You must watch Japanese horror movies. The suspense, good timing on the shock. I've watched some where I still jump out of my skin on the 3rd viewing. Yuo won't find the mindless Hollywood slashing.

You are mostly, but not totally, correct. The Haunting (1963) is a movie that I dare you to watch alone in the dark and not be scared.

Even though some people thought "The Ring" was corny - murder by TV?? - it was so eerie and creepy. The story line, the images, the music: it scared the pants off me! I think there's a big difference between scary and gross.

Yes, and lots of them - but what I call good may not be what you call good.

The thing with horror films is that if they are really bad they can be so bad that they are good :-) 'Plan 9" being a classic example.

I agree that buckets of blood and special effects does not a good horror flick make,they need to be interesting too, but I'd say that there are plenty out there that are worth watching.

13 Ghosts is one of my favorites.

13 Ghosts is a state-of-the-art remake of the classic William Castle horror film about a family that inherits a spectacular old house from an eccentric uncle. There's just one problem: the house seems to have a dangerous agenda all its own. Trapped in their new home by strangely shifting walls, the family encounters powerful and vengeful entities that threaten to annihilate anyone in their path. Soon the family is joined by an offbeat ghost hunter who is determined to free the spirits imprisoned in the house. Caught in a frantic race to save themselves before it is too late, the human inhabitants realize the house is a riddle which contains the key to their imminent salvation - or destruction.

13 Ghosts The Jackal

My favorite:The Jackal-the Charlie Manson of ghosts.

I found the Jackal ghost to be particularly scary. Played superbly by Shayne Wyler the Jackal is an escapee from a turn-of-the century lunatic asylum. Wearing a tattered straight jacket and a cage over his head he truly is what nightmares are made of.
