I didn't know there was so much involved in taking care of bettas. My daughter recently purchased one, so I'll have to bookmark this lens so she can have a look at it. A lot of great information. Thanks for sharing.

i have acrowntail female that just won;t show interest in any of my males i show her. My males are a giant plakat or shortail, a halfmoon doubletail plakat betta, and a 5* fighter plakat betta. Any suggestions why she doesn't show interest would help?

this is normal, maby she needs some time to think . maby try again later she may not be ready even if she seems so, because all bettas are different.

I'm worried about my female Betta (named Betty), who I fear may be "egg bound".
Is there anything I can do to help her?

Awsometasticly epicly-epic lens ....*sorry i ate 2 much ice tea im so hyper*...

I have a male betta i called "fading darkness"...but we just call him "Oscuro"
...my family and i ...actually bought "Opal" a very young female fry (maybe adult)
at the very wrong time though......

Oscuro liked getting my attention so much...jumping and kissing for a piece of food...i see why he always flares at Opal when he gets the chance....
...but nce i saw her i was inlove with her fins pointed with blue yet 2 grow..
...but boy she is soo intelegent...though the food i gave her was a bit 2 bit 4 her mouth she always had something in her mind...she was VERYattracted to the vibration outside her tank *music, rings, bangs etc.*...
...it is actually pretty cutew really...

Right now I don't have room in my house for an aquarium or a partner that will allow it! Anyhow I have a big vase that I converted into a Betta home. It holds about half a gallon of water. It sits in the corner behind my sink. It has a few sprigs of anubis and 2 small snails to keep the algae down. I change the water out ever two weeks and only feed small amounts of food every two days. Sometimes I have left him without food for 5 days. I am happy to say that he has been in there for 2 years. He is a milky beige with red mottling. To me the key is keeping the water clean, having the plants, snails and feeding in the most small amounts.

#3 - Buying brother & sister for breeding is not a smart suggestion & it is not backed up with any scholarly research articles. With any species it is always better to breed animals that are not brother and sister to avoid Gin Defects. IE look at the cultures where brothers & sisters or cousins marry each other, they all ware glasses, their cohort of people usually have variety of genetic diseases due to the fact that their genes have not had the opportunity to mix that well. Aren't inter racial couple babies usually way cuter?

Super lens! I've had bettas for years. I've never tried breeding them though, I couldn't stand the thought of the possibility of losing the female. They are spectacular fish though. I'm rolling this one to my betta lens.
