The easist way to try Linux
The easiest way to try Linux is to get the Ubuntu distribution. The latest version as of now is 7.04.
I installed it on my current Win XP Pro system using the dual boot option and keeping my current Windows setup. It was an easy install.
BTW, you can find it at the link further sown.
I use Firefox as my browser and it's the default browser in Ubuntu. You can even import your bookmarks from your current Windows version.
The default email client will allow you to import you current settings and address book of your current Windows email program, no matter what email program you're using.
