Tips On How to Get Better Fuel Mileage

With oil at $126 per barrel on 5/09/08 and auto fuel prices at $3.89 cents a gallon we are all looking for ways on how to get better fuel mileage for our cars and trucks. My goal in this article is to give you some helpful tips on how to get better fuel mileage and save some of that hard earned cash for other things such as savings and retirement. With the high cost of everything else seemingly all connected the high price of gas or diesel fuels discovering how to get better fuel mileage will help us to get by until our paychecks catch up or the price come down.

Keep your car in tip top shape

Tip #1 on how to get better fuel mileage is to keep your car in tip top shape. Keep your vehicle tuned up with the oil changed and running smoothly. Make sure your tires have the correct amount of air pressure. You can lose up to 6% of your gas mileage with under inflated tires. Make sure that there are no oil or gas leaks as this will not only help you get better fuel mileage but will help conserve or world as well.

Change your driving habits

Tip # 2 on how to get better fuel mileage is to change your driving habits. I may be the worst offender when it comes to fast starts and short stops. All you need to do is take off more slowly and slow down earlier. Keep the speed limit or slightly under and your MPG will increase and you will save on your fuel costs. In other word keep your foot off the gas pedal. No more pedal to the metal philosophy no matter how hard that is for some of us.

Lose that extra weight in the trunk

Tip #3 on how to get better fuel mileage is to get rid of that extra weight in the trunk. My daughter is one who carries everything but the kitchen sink in her car talk about a pack rat. It has been said that a mile per gallon is used up for every extra 250 lbs you haul around in the vehicle. Clean out the trunk or truck bed and dump some of that trash you have been carrying around.

Turn off the A/C and roll down the windows

Tip # 4 on how to get better fuel mileage is turn off the A/C roll down the windows. At least when you are driving around town use the old fashioned air conditioning we had when I was a kid, roll down the windows and get some fresh air. This will take the drain off of your engine and it will run smoother. Of course when on the highway zipping along at highway speeds roll the windows up as the wind drag steals your MPG.

Convert your vehicle to a hybrid

Tip #5 on how to get better fuel mileage is to convert your vehicle to a hybrid. Seriously, it is not all that hard to convert your car to run on water at least part time. Now before you write me off as a lunatic or scam artist hear me out and check out the sources. The idea behind onboard hydrogen generators for cars and trucks is that they use electricity provided by the car to make HHO gas out of a small amount of water and inject the resulting hydrogen and oxygen gases into the vehicle's intake system. This HHO displaces some of the fossil fuels in the cylinders, causing the gasoline or diesel fuel to burn more efficiently, increase power and decrease pollutants coming out the tailpipe. Pound for pound, HHO gas is 3 times more potent than gasoline! HHO is a fast growing trend for boosting vehicle performance and gas mileage. No joke this technology will make your car become 50% more fuel efficient. Run your car on water will save you and it is easy to install and all parts can be found at the local hardware for under $50 and at todays gas prices you will have that back in two fill-ups. Check it out you will not be disappointed. Click here for more Run your car on water
