Why Online Banking is Getting Better

Online Banking Improvements

I did my company visit at a Bank of America branch where I interviewed the manager. The questions I asked her were about how technology is used in the bank, what technological changes will the bank be adding in the future, and what new technological changes has the bank made recently. The bank I visited seemed to be upgrading its technology to compete with other banks. Bank of America has made technological changes that has made banking more convenient and expedient.
The bank manager explained to me that the bank has recently installed new atm machines that are more intuitive and updated. She said that Wells Fargo has similar atms and other banks are changing theirs too. This was understandable since I do most of my banking through the atm because I can effectively manage my accounts without going into the bank. The improvements to the bank don't stop there, technology is also being updated elsewhere in the bank.
I was told by the manager that all the bank transactions are done over the computer. She said that a persons banking information can be sent to any Bank of America branch over a network over the computer. This isn't brand new technology but the manager did say that just recently the bank has upgraded it's old Macs to new pc. During my visit I noticed that these new computers looked more updated and the customers in line moved quickly.
The interview was going well and I had one final question to ask the manager. I asked her "what technological changes will the bank be adding in the future". She told me that a likely prediction would be changes in the way uncleared checks are handled. With the use of updated computer systems and a shift towards online banking bad checks will be a thing of the past. The manager explained to me that there is a way you can bank online over your cell phone and if your account balance gets low it sends you alert messages. The new system also alerts you if and when you have a payment due, so that you don't have to worry about missing payments. After my interview I realized that technology is making banking more convenient and less stressful for everybody.
I was truly amazed by the improvement Bank of America has made not only to it's technology but to customer service. The manager said that the reason the bank is constantly upgrading it's technology is to keep up with security, for things like theft and bank fraud. Online banking although convenient has it's drawbacks, one of these being theft. The solution to this she said was a secure server that protects your account pin number safe from hackers. The interview was concluded by me taking home a handful of brochures that the manager insisted I look over.
During my last visit to the bank I had an online account setup, thus eliminating the need to go to the bank. It's wonderful what the internet can do. What used to take me a trip to the bank can now be done at home. All I have to do is log in and everything else is a snap. So to all my readers I hope you at least give it a try, it saves waiting in line and stale coffee:-)
