Why should I?
There really are just some really horrible looking things out there on the web right now. It's a little like the neighbor whose broken-down house brings down the house prices in the enitre neighborhood — don't make the rest of us look bad!
So here are some tips and resources to help you make better web pages. I will be adding new ones frequently, so please stop back in to learn more about this continually evolving topic!
Here's Your Tips:
- Read up on the subject.
There are many websites, books, and RSS feeds on the subject of good design and development practices. Find a few that seem like they know what they are talking about, and become a regular reader to keep current on trends. - Learn web standards and use them.
The World Wide Web Consortium is the place of all things standards. Learn about the latest standards and use their validators to make sure your pages are compliant before your site goes live. - See what other people are doing.
If you happen to come across a site that takes your breath away, view the source! Opensource design is one of the true gifts of the web. But remember: Please return the favor by sharing your projects and solutions with others.
