Do You Own a Website?
Maybe you've built Website Traffic Analytics yourself or maybe you work with a web designer. Do you feel like you could improve your website? What do you think about all the advice out there on the net that's there to help you out...?
I'm a website owner just like you and have sat looking at my site wondering how to get a higher PageRank, attract more visitors and how to turn them into customers. Well, it can be done, so read on...

It's Nothing to Do With the Technology
(Slightly controversial I know but read on...)
A great website is all about unique ideas and different products. Remember there are 1000's of other people out there all doing similar stuff to you so you'd better do something worth remembering. Sorry, did I say 1000s? I should have said millions.

I know this is a risky thing to say, particularly if you are into web technology like me. Don't get me wrong - without the technology your website won't work anyway. But I just view it as a way to get your idea working. No amount of PHP or CSS or blogging or social networking or email marketing will make it work if you don't have something great for your visitors

Stop Working Hard on Your Website!
Is it better to work hard or to work a bit smarter?
There's a lot of information out there on websites and there are plenty of offers of help:
Where do you start and what do you read and what do you choose to do? How do you find time to work on all of the different possibilities? How do you deal with all that techie stuff and geek speak?
Websites should work for you and for your visitors. It's easy to let flashy technology get in the way of this fact. Do you want a fancy site or do you want to help your visitors?
I believe that the solution to this is not to work harder but to make a few wise decisions and get a few simple ideas working. Take a look at my blog below and you might pick up some useful ideas...

You Deserve a Better Website
Fetching RSS feed... please stand byDon't Chase the #1 Position in Search Engines
Have you noticed all the sites and services out there that offer to get you on the first page of Google? Yes, you can do this and I can show you how if you like. But do you think your #1 position will last for long? More than a couple of days? Do you think this #1 listing would be for your link on digg.com or for your website itself? What search term would you be #1 for? Would it be a popular term or something that has such low competition that no one is looking for it? What about all the other search terms that you need?
The truth is that there are some things which will get you quickly to the top of google. But will this keep you there? Yes, you can achieve some short term results but wouldn't you rather have a site which is successful for the long term and really helps your visitors? This is where the art of building a better website really pays dividends.

Footnote: So Why the Orange?
Some say it's related to website health and the Dr Richard thing. Actually I have a PhD and medical issues make me a little queasy.
You know what you're getting with an orange. Its purpose is pretty clear. It's bright and recognizable and everyone knows what it is. Can you say the same about your website?

- Informative stuff, specially "Don't chase the #1 position." Well based on my searching experience, the things I really need never came from the no.1 position.
