Is Beyonce Knowles Diet Safe?
For her part in the 2006 movie version of Dreamgirls, Beyonce Knowles used the master cleanse diet as a way to lose nearly 20 pounds in 10 days. She was required to lose the weight in order to properly portray a young up and coming singer in the sixties.
During a newspaper interview, Beyonce indicated it was her nutritionist who suggested the master cleanse diet was the only way to lose the necessary weight in such a short time period. Beyonce said while she was on the diet she felt cranky and food deprived even though she modified the diet a little bit to include vegetables. Most people who take part in the master cleanse diet generally do not eat any solid foods at all. Usually their only source of nourishment is a concoction of lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper.
Soon after she finished her 10 day fast, Beyonce returned to her old ways of eating and regained all of the weight she had lost. She admits she did not enjoy the diet.
What anyone thinking of doing the master cleanse can learn from Beyonce is that the master cleanse is not a magic bullet for weight loss. Yes, you can lose a large chunk of weight very quickly on the master cleanse, but if you don't follow it up with a long term healthy diet you'll "give back" all the gains you made on the cleanse.
