Bidcactus | Scam? Too Good To Be True?

Is Bidcactus.com too good to be true? Yes, no, and yes again. Is it a scam? No, but I do think that calling it an auction is not true. Penny auctions are a luck game...just like gambling.

Bidcactus is a penny auction site, it is NOT like eBay in any way. With Bidcactus you have to buy your bids, which will bid for a penny or ten cents depending on the auction. The bids will cost you .75 cents a piece or you can win extra bids with your first bid purchase. (which is a good way to start out if you want to try and get into this site, but we'll talk about that later in the tips section) Your first purchase of bids will end up costing you $18.75 (at the least) for 25 bids. These bids will allow you 25 chances at winning an item. You can not bid a certain price, you can only go up one cent or ten cents like stated above, so you will have no "max" amount on the item and no guarantee that you will win.

You DO have a chance to win items for amazing prices, but you have to do a little research and have lots of patience.

You DO have a chance to lose money and not win any items, but if you do choose to give it a try I hope I can help.

Bidcactus is more about gambling than actually auctioning. So, play smart, do your research, and you could get some amazing deals from penny auctions.

How To Bidcactus

What to do and NOT do

So, I just let you know that Bidcactus can be good or bad because it is more like gambling than auctioning. Make sure you go into this site with a gambling mindset, not an eBay mindset. You can lose a lot of money on sites like this, and I'm here to help that NOT happen.

DO NOT try to bid right after the 3 second "going GOING" warning...the bidding will reset with 20 seconds.
(you must win with no one else bidding in the last 10-20 seconds to win. wait for someone to stupidly reset the bidding and bid right after them or the person you are competing with so it doesn't add more time *if you bid close enough together time is not added*)

Your best chance at getting items is between 2am and 5am on weekdays and 4am to 6am on weekends
(Watch out though, they tend to keep high time items like electronics during this time, so you'll have more competition on smaller gift cards)

Watch your competitors!
(watch how other people are fighting for items. see if your competitors have already won items or not. if they are very competitive it may be best to wait until they have won their 3 item quota for the day.)

Go for the smaller items or more bids
(sure those tvs and computers look nice, but your going to have to use A LOT of bids to get them. try to get more bids and build them up so you have a nest egg, or go after smaller gift cards that you know you need)

Know when to stop!
(remember, this is just like gambling...know when enough is a enough. it is too easy to get caught up in this site and you can lose money without EVER winning anything. Patience Patience Patience!)

Better than Bidcactus

Something better and safer

If you were hoping to get a good deal and make a profit from Bidcactus, I'm sorry but it probably won't happen for most of you. There was a new penny auction site that opened up called Biddango that I prefer over Bidcactus. It has a nicer interface and since it is newer, you don't have to fight against as many people.

ALTHOUGH: If you love auction sites like eBay than I might have a better option.

eBay Fortune is a proven way to make money off of eBay by selling anything and everything. Try searching for "used socks" and you'll see some going to hundreds of dollars! You just have to know how to market it. eBay Fortune will teach you this and it isn't a gamble like Bidcactus, but its still fun and exciting to deal with auctions. You can buy low and sell high if you know what to look for.

This would be a good way to make the extra cash you'll need if you end up losing it all with Bidcactus! :D

Be Careful with Bidcactus

Remember this is gambling!

Gambling addiction, also known as compulsive gambling, is a type of impulse-control disorder. Do not get caught up on this site for more than an hour or two. Compulsive gamblers can't control the impulse to gamble, even when they know their gambling is hurting themselves or their wallets.

Gamblers can have a problem, however, without being totally out of control. Problem gambling is any gambling behavior that disrupts your life. If you're preoccupied with gambling, spending more and more time and money on it, chasing losses, or gambling despite serious consequences, you have a gambling problem.

Do not allow yourself to become addicted to this. IT CAN HAPPEN. Know when to stop, know when to close your browser and take a walk outside, know when to close your wallet.

I was lucky enough to win an extra 25 bids in my first 10 bids...and that is all I do...I only bid on more bids. After I get hundreds of bids, I'll start trying for actual items while I get more bids...this way i'm never spending money on bids again and everything will be profit. BUT when I see that most items have hours left, I give up for that day and do something else. You must have self control with things like this or you will lose.

So this might be a dumb question but i will ask anyway. If you are bidding something you would be willing to purchase anyway-- you can limit your bids to be less than the purchase price and apply your bid to the purchase should someone else win correct? So if you have the self control to do this and only bid on things you would be willing to purchase anyway, then hypothetically you won't ever really lose. You may not win, but you won't lose lots of $$ either.

I have something to say to whoever put together this article. Not to be rude or anything, but my brother has learned to conquer the "fake" computer bidders on this site. He is VERY sharp mentally and has spent plenty of time and money to figure out how to kick this site's ass.

You don't have to believe a thing I say about my bro', and I'm not trying to get you to go to this site, but I just have to brag about my brother winning tons of big auctions on this site and selling the items on ebay for a profit!

Like I said, he did spend a lot of time and MONEY at the beginning to figure out all the software and how it was programmed to get gamblers spending plenty. With him now, it's hardly even gambling anymore : ) I love to brag about how he is now profiting off of them.

Now the person who wrote this article does say quite a few things that my brother says r correct (patience and knowing when to stop), but he knows plenty more, and can profit from the BIG auctions. He thinks the small gift certicates r ridiculous because he knows how to win any auction.

Like I said I'm NOT trying to get u to go to the site, but if u r really sharp mentally and have plenty of time and money to spend like my brother (self-employed), you might be able to figure it all out.

Okay, I've said enough. Just addidcted to bragging about the brother I love.

You make some great points. It's entirely possible to win big if you're smart about it.

Penny Auction Sites are here to stay, but only if they are regulated.. imo.

I have had a few wins at Bidcactus....a $50 Shell Oil gift card and 2 auctions for small bidpacks. Overall, I am probably down about thirty dollars. I lost more when I began; There is definitely a learning curve. Good advice in the above column! You absolutely do need to exercise self-control. If the site is too busy, if you see $50 cards going for over $1.00 (which means 100 bids)....leave and come back later. Remind yourself that there will be more of the same items (and they will be selling similar things over and over again).

I actually DID spend hours on the site one day...without bidding! I just observed...and I learned alot. I suggest anyone planning to bid on Bidcactus - Watch the auctions for a while. You'll see which things go faster, how long is added to the clock @ the end...some smaller items add 5 seconds at the end for each new bid, some 15, some 30.

In the end, it's always a "game" of luck because you have no control over who or how many bidders will log in to the site or leave at the last minute. But you can at least put the odds a little bit more in your favor...enough to win something eventually.

One more thing...ask yourself if it's worth your time and money to be sitting there bidding. You might be better off buying the items you want and spending your bidcactus time with your family, or on your career or job-search! Like gambling in Vegas, you have to realize it's business for the auction sites or casinos; It's entertainment for the bidders. Decide how much you want to spend for the entertainment. If you win something to defray the cost or end up ahead, consider yourself lucky & return to reality. Hope this is helpful! HNY 2011 to all.
