PIZZA PARTY GAMES & ACTIVITIES
"Toss Dough" Like Pro
Divide the kids into pairs of two. Give each pair a ball of dough and
challenge them to "toss" the dough just like a real pizza chef!
You can actually turn this into a game, if you dare.
Have the kids form two lines with team-mates facing each other.
Toss the ball of dough to your partner...step back..toss..step back..toss etc. If you drop your dough, you and your partner are "out".
I'm Making a Pizza Game
Play this game just as you would "I'm Going on a trip"
Players then form a circle and take turns saying: "I'm making a pizza and it will have_____". The first person fills in the blank with an item for their pizza like anchovies, cheese, etc. Then the next person says, "I'm making a pizza and it will have_____," repeat what the first person said, and add an item. When a player forgets an item previously named, he is out of the game.
The game is over when all players have had their turn. Or, you could keep going around , as players forget items the circle will get smaller and the game ends when only one player is left.
Pizza Box Folding
Purchase several un-folded pizza boxes from a local Pizzeria.
Divide the kids into teams and give each team and equal amount of
boxes. The object of the game is to be the first team to get all of their
boxes folded, in the shortest amount of time, with only one team mate folding at a time. You can make this game more challenging by only
allowing the kids to use one hand.
They have to work with other team-mates to accomplish the task.
Make and Bake
Now it's time for the kids to really make and enjoy their own pizza.
You may want to purchase prepared pizza dough from a grocery store,
or use "Boboli" pizza crusts. You'll need standard toppings: cheese,
sauces, pepperoni, onions, olives etc. Bake and enjoy!
Pizza Cake
Bake a 12-14 inch round yellow sheet cake (made in a cake or pizza pan).
Top with red frosting not quite to the edge of the cake (sauce).
Top with White chocolate chips (cheese), strawberries, blue berries kiwi etc.
Place the cake into a real pizza box with the lid propped open.

BIRTHDAY PARTY PLANNING BASICS
If possible, begin planning your party 4-5 weeks in advance.
Allowing plenty of time for on-line shopping, cake orders and enlisting
any friends or family you may want to help.
Pick a theme. Whether it's an elaborate royal kingdom theme,
or something easier, like your child's favorite color, selecting a theme will
help you organize your thoughts. You'll then plan all of your party supply
purchases, party games and decorations around that theme.
Children remember what they did at a party, much more than what they
ate, what the plates and napkins looked like or whether the house was
spotless. Don't sweat the little details!
The best party times are......1:00 - 3:00 or 2:00 - 4:00
You won't need to serve a meal but a few finger foods are advised
For little ones try 10:00am -11:30 to work around nap time.
BIRTHDAY PARTY INVITATIONS
The Invitation Equation:
Child's age + 1 = happy kids
For children under 8 years old, invite as many children as the child's age plus one. Some parents choose to add 1 or 2 to this equation. Only you
can know your limits. Of course, as your child gets much older the formula will need revision.
Obviously this is just a guideline. Before you begin to plan your party think about your limits, strengths and weaknesses as well as the party area available to you. For example...As a former pre-K teacher and a children's entertainer...I thrive on the chaos a group of children can ensue.
As a matter of fact I'm more comfortable entertaining kids than adults.
A larger kids party, is fine with me.
If however, you feel overwhelmed by a just a few children in your home, you will want to keep your party on the small side. It will actually be more fun, because you'll feel more relaxed.
Who to Invite
Parties for very young children, more often than not will include family members; cousins, siblings etc.
As your child gets older, invite only your child's closest playmates.
They already know each other well which makes the party so much more fun! Think about friends from daycare, school, Sunday school, special relatives and neighbors.
It's not mandatory that you invite the siblings of your child's friends, or even parents (unless children are very young). Most parents enjoy the break and you won't feel so much pressure to entertain adults.
I don't want to leave anyone out!
This is a common dilemma, especially when your children
begin to attend school. Try to be discreet by mailing the invitations. Speak with the teacher about coming in for a
brief and simple class party. Bring a small party bag (pencils, stickers, balloon) and treat for every student.
WIN or LOSE PARTY GAMES
No one should go home a loser!
Competitive games are enjoyable only for the people who win. A party should be fun...Avoid tears by selecting games where everyone gets a chance to succeed. For example, if it's a game like musical chairs, when a player is called "out", assign that player the task of playing the music.
After one round, that player will rejoin the group. Better yet, plan a few cooperative games, in which the whole gang faces a challenge, such as following a treasure map, then they each receive a prize or split
the treasure evenly.
Be Prepared!!!
Try setting up your party in activity stations to lead the children in the direction of the party focus. The stations need not be fancy or expensive. The birthday child can pick what they want to do i.e. blocks at one station, dollhouse at another, play dough at another etc.
You should not need more than four stations. (suggestions are included in ALL of our Party themes) Prepare ALL of the activities, games etc. before the party. This enables you to focus on the kids when the party begins.
Ask a friend , family member or neighbor to help with the party. It's likely you have a neighborhood teenager who would love to help, when offered a few dollars for their time.
Our Alien Birthday Party is sure to be a hit with the kids! Big Birthday Shop has all your birthday party supplies to make your child's Alien Birthday Party a success!

Cute Monster Kids Birthday

Monster Party Decorations
Choose from our list of decorating ideas to create a monster atmosphere for your party. Some monster decorations may frighten younger children, so decide which ideas will be the most fun for your guests. Try just a few decorations, or go all out!
* Draw monster footprints leading up to your door using sidewalk chalk.
* Cut fat monster feet from green poster board and attach them to the floor leading from the door to the main party room.
* Create a dramatic look in the main party room by replacing the light bulbs with green or blue bulbs. Hand out neon glow necklaces to each guest as they arrive.
* Hang a sign on your front door that says "Warning, monsters inside! Enter at your own risk!"
* For older kids, rent or borrow a fog machine to create a spooky monster atmosphere.
* Make monster hands from clear plastic gloves. Stuff the gloves with tissue paper and tie them closed with black ribbon. Decorate by drawing a scar across the back of each hand with green craft paint, add fake fingernails, a ring, or attach a plastic insect. Place the monster hands on various tables, and save a few to perch on the edge of food platters!
* Make a few monster heads from empty plastic milk jugs. Turn the jugs upside down and use acrylic craft paint to design a variety of monster heads. You can paint one jug green with brown scars on the face and head; paint another one purple with a goofy smile and lots of teeth; leave one jug white and use black paint to draw a face and lots of stitches across the head; and paint one jug blue with one big eye in the center. If you wish, add a Frankenstein look by attaching metal nuts to the neck or head using hot glue. To display the monster heads, fill a drink tub with a crumpled plastic tablecloth and arrange your monster heads in the tub as desired. To make the heads stand up on their own, set them inside a round plastic food storage container and attach with duct tape before painting.
* Make a kid-sized monster body to greet your guests as they arrive. Trace around your child's body on poster paper and then paint the shape to look like Frankenstein or Godzilla. Cut out the monster body and attach it to sturdy cardboard using spray adhesive. Next, cut a hole the size of a child's face where the monster's face should be. Lean your monster against the back side of a chair, and take photos on party day of each guest looking through the monster face.
Monster Party Food Ideas
Your little monsters will love party food with a spooky theme! Here are a few ideas to turn normal food items into a yummy monster meal!
* Serve food the children like, but give it a yucky monster name to make it more fun! Make little signs to put on the table in front of each food item so the kids can laugh as they eat. For example, mini pigs in a blanket can be called monster toes; grapes and melon balls can be called monster eyes, and apple slices cut with a pointed end can be called monster teeth.
* Monster Fingers: Make a plate of monster fingers by using a tiny dab of cream cheese (or peanut butter) to attach an almond slice "fingernail" to one end of a baby carrot.
* Monster Head Dip: Serve your child's favorite dip in a "monster head". To make the head, cut one slice from the top of a round loaf of bread. Pull out the soft bread inside to create a hollow shell. (Discard the soft bread or save it for another use.) Decorate the front of the bread bowl to create a monster face, using slices of vegetables to create eyes, a nose, a mouth, and ears. Hold them in place with toothpicks. If you want the face to look more creepy, add a tongue cut from a piece of fruit leather or bologna.
* Monster Snack Treats: Use individual slices of crispy rice cereal treats or brownies cut into rectangles about 2" x 4". Add green food coloring to a can of white frosting and then microwave briefly to soften. The frosting should be thin enough to pour, but not syrupy. Gently pour the green frosting over each treat. Next, melt 1/2 cup of chocolate chips in the microwave in a sturdy plastic bag. Snip off one corner of the bag and pipe a monster face onto each treat. For example, you can give some of the treats hair and a squiggly mouth; give others a triangle nose and a scar for a mouth, and for others create two fangs and shaggy looking hair. Be creative and design your own monster faces!
* Monster Toe Cookies: Use your favorite sugar cookie recipe or a roll of ready-made cookie dough from the grocery store. Add a small amount of green food coloring to the dough, and then shape into 1 1/2 inch ovals. Roll the ovals in plain sugar and place on a cookie sheet. Press an oval shaped candy such as a black jelly bean or a peanut M&M onto one end of each cookie as the toenail. Bake as directed.

Birthday T-shirts and Gifts
Little Princess Kids Birthday Party
Your little girl will feel like a princess on her birthday in this princess birthday t-shirt!

Decorations
Use royal colors for your celebration: purple, pink, and gold. Transform your home into a fairy tale castle by hanging a string of white twinkle lights around the entrance.
Mark your house as the Princess Party spot by hanging balloons around the front of your home. Tape balloons around your entrance door for a royal archway. Have several balloons tied to your mailbox to show your guests the way to the ball. Place a sign or banner over your front door announcing, "Welcome to the Princess Castle!"
Add any dolls or other princess toys your child may have to the table as centerpiece. Use pink ribbon or soft pillow to turn a seat at the princess party table into a throne for the birthday girl. Disney posters (Princess or Cinderella) would work great as wall decorations.
Hang balloons in bunches by tying a colorful ribbon around the strings of several balloons, so they hang together. Silver, white, and gold balloons around your princess party table area create a wonderful effect.
Attach paper streamers to a light fixture in the center of the princess birthday party table to add to the festive environment. Create multicolored streamers by placing two different colored streamers back-to-back (try pink and white) and twisting them.
Buy plastic champagne flutes or wine glasses. Glue inexpensive jewel pieces to them for the royal goblets. Do the same with clear plastic plates - glue jewels along the outside ridge. Tie napkins with purple organdy ribbon and you're set.
Guest Arrival and Introductory Activities
Ask guests to wear their fanciest dresses or dress-up gowns. When they arrive, provide a box or chest of extra dress-up items, costume jewelry, feather boas, and dressy play shoes for the girls to accessorize.
*Beauty Parlor Station: Take each girl to your "beauty parlor" station (table with mirror) and add a touch of blush and lip-gloss to transform her into a princess.
*Beaded Charms: Place the various beads and stringing materials in a variety of bowls. Everyone gets to make her own necklace. Another alternative is to use candy and cereal to make edible necklaces or bracelets.
*Design Your Own Tiara: Paint the pre-cut crowns gold. Leave time for them to dry before the princess birthday party. Guests get to decorate their own tiaras/crowns with gemstones, glitter, and sparkly stickers.
*Sparkling Princess Hat: Let your guests create their own beautiful princess hats. Provide them with pre-made hat made out of cardboard and let them decorate it with jewels.
Favors
For your princess party favors you can have royal tiaras, necklaces and bracelets, magical wands, any hair accessories, body glitter, etc.
Princess Party Games
*Princess Birthday Party Parade: Once everyone is dressed up, it is time for parade! Lead all the princesses on a parade around the house or backyard with a help of a princess music CD. Don't forget to take pictures or to videotape - this is the perfect opportunity!
*Sifting for Gems: Tell a story about how many fancy balls were hosted in glorious mansions during the late 19th century. Each female guest was invited to play a game. She was told to grasp a handful of sand and let it sift trough her fingers to find a precious gem that was hers to keep.
Now it's time for each guest at your princess birthday party to find their gem. Reveal a shoebox filled with sand or white cornmeal with hidden plastic rhinestones. Pass the shoebox around so each little princess gets a couple of gems by sticking a hand in the sand and letting it sift through her fingers to reveal a rhinestone.
*Kiss the Frog: Draw a large frog on a poster board - make a big oval head with eyes at the top and an hourglass-shaped body with pointy webbed feet at the bottom. Color the frog green and draw two big, white paper eyeballs. Draw a mouth, nostrils and pupils. From red or pink construction paper, cut out a pair of lips for each princess birthday party guest. Apply tape to the back of each pair of lips.
Have each player shut her eyes. Spin the guests around, one at a time. Point the player in the right direction to pin the smooch on Mr. Frog. Continue until everyone has had a turn.
Princess Birthday Party
*Princess and the Pea: Every princess takes a turn sitting on four pillows arranged in a row on the floor. While sitting on the pillows, each guest must guess which pillow the pea (a small ball or marble) is under.
Move "the pea" after each turn while the contestant is out of the room, or looking away. You can read a portion from the Princess and the Pea book to start off or end the activity.
*Lily-pad Moat Crossing: Cut out four large lily pads from green cardboard (about 12"X15"). Divide guests into two equal lines and give the first person in each line two lily pads. The lily pads become the only thing they can step on as they travel across the moat - from the front of the line, around chair and back to the line again).
The game begins by having the children placing one lily pad on the ground and stepping on it. Then they place the other lily pad on the ground and step on it. Next, they pick up the first lily pad and place it on the ground in front of the other. When they cross the moat they hand the two lily pads to the next player in line. The team to make it all the way across the moat first is the winner.
To make the game longer and more challenging, give each of the two teams a princess outfit. In addition to walking on lily pads, each child must first put on the princess outfit.
*Balancing Act: Have all the little princesses line up on one side of the party area. One at a time, have each princess try to walk to the other side of the party area and back balancing a book on her head. Vary the difficulty of this activity with different size books.
*Hot Frog: Have the princesses stand in a circle. While the music is playing, they need to quickly pass the frog prince to one another. When the music stops, the child holding the frog is out. Continue the play until there is only one player left.
*Slay the Dragon: This is a great princess party game to play outdoors. Start by telling a story, "Once upon a time, far away, in a magical kingdom, there lived a beautiful princess named (your daughter's name). All was well, until one day the princess discovered that a dragon egg had hatched and a mighty, fierce, fire-breathing dragon was running wild! The royal wizard mixed up a batch of pink potion to help slay the dragon."
Hand out pink water filled balloons. Have dad, or another willing participant, dress up as dragon (green shirt and some orange streamers as fire).
Have the dress-up dragon run from out from a hidden area. Have the guests pelt the dragon with pink water-filled balloons, as the dragon runs and roars. When the dragon whimpers away, everyone lives happily ever after.
*Royal Fans: Draw princess-theme pictures and creative designs on one or both sides of colored paper. Fold the paper accordion style and fasten one end with tape to create the handle. Gently spread out the other end for a beautiful personalized fan, fit only for a royal princess.
*Find the Royal Treasure: Hide the gold coins and gems around the princess birthday party area. Declare that the Royal Treasure has been scattered throughout the land by mischievous pixies. The task is to find the treasure and put it into King's Treasure Chest.
Food and Drink
Princess Birthday Cakes:
*Pink Royal Castle Cake: Bake five 8" square cakes. Arrange 4 baked cakes side-to-side in one big square. Place the fifth cake on top of the center of the other 4 cakes. Frost the cake structure with white icing. Sprinkle 4 sugar waffle cones with edible glitter and set them on the castle at the four corners. Decorate the cake with various candies and sprinkles. Add pink or red gel icing for fun effect.
For a princess theme event, I recommend making this elegant princess birthday cake.
Princess Birthday Party Food Ideas:
*Princess Sandwiches: Make your child's favorite sandwiches in the form of a star (You can use star-shaped cookie cutter).
*Royal Pizza: Serve your child's favorite pizza (or have a variety of flavors).
*Pink Cream Cheese Cracker Sandwiches: Spread strawberry cream cheese between two crackers. Pile the cream cheese cracker sandwiches on a pink plate.
*Pink Mac & Cheese: Prepare regular macaroni and cheese. Add red or pink food coloring for pinkish color.
*Princess Parfait: Put a layer of yogurt, granola, and fresh fruit into plastic cups. Repeat layers once or twice in each cup. Top with whipping cream.
*Pumpkin Dip: Add a bit of Cinderella theme to your princess birthday party... Hollow out a pumpkin and fill it with dip. Use variety of vegetables to go with a dip (cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, celery, etc.).
*Poison Apples: Your princess birthday party guests could have an extra activity - bob for "poison" apples.
*Medieval Feast: Prepare chicken (or any kind of meat) with potatoes and gravy for a traditional royal feast.
*Wiggly Jiggly Pink Cubes: Get pink gelatin package. Using star-shaped cookie cutter, make gelatin jigglers according to package directions.
*Princess Lollipops: Have pink-colored candies and lollipops in a bowl on princess birthday party table.
*Hershey Kisses as treats
*Any kind of candy that looks like jewels

Circus Clown 4th Birthday Kids T-Shirt
Circus Clown Birthday Available For 1 to 7 years old!

Circus Birthday Party Games
*Pin the Nose on the Clown: This game is a variation of "Pin the Tail on the Donkey." Attach a clown mural onto a wall. Give "clown noses" to all your circus birthday party guests. Then blindfold them. Spin kids around a couple of times. Get them to pin the nose on the clown where it should be.
*Balloon Pop: Write down prizes on small pieces of paper and insert them into balloons. Blow up balloons, then have players try to pop them by stomping or sitting on them - blindfolded. When the balloon pops, have them collect the prize written on the note.
*Circus Animals Scavenger Hunt: Spread the stuffed animals around the yard. Get the kids to locate as many animals as they can. Make it more challenging for the older kids. Help them out by writing clues. You can award a special badge "Circus Ringmaster (or Animal Trainer)" to a child who collects the most animals. You can play a similar scavenger hunt version indoors. Instead of stuffed animals, you can use peanuts wrapped in cellophane bags (Make it a Peanut Hunt).
*Lion Taming: Have the kids form a circle, facing in toward the middle - they are lions. Choose one child to be the ringmaster and have her walk around the outside of the lions' circle. The ringmaster must tag a lion, then run around the ring and make it back to where the lion was standing before the lion touches her. If the ringmaster makes it back, she becomes a lion. If not, he or she is "eaten" and is out of the game. Play until one child remains in the circle.
*Feed the Tiger: This game will be a big hit with a preschool crowd. Make or purchase a poster of a tiger. Cut out the tiger's mouth part and attach the poster to a large box for support. Get the kids to throw bean bags into the tiger's "mouth". Kids will most likely want a second go around.
*Egg on the Spoon Relay: Divide your circus birthday party guests into two teams and give each player a spoon. Give the first player on each team a hard-boiled egg (don't tell children the eggs are hard-boiled). Have them walk as quickly as possible to the finish line and back to the starting line, balancing the eggs on the spoons.
Once the players reach the starting line again, they must carefully pass the eggs to the next players in line (without touching the eggs). The race continues in this manner until every player on one team has completed the task. (If a player drops an egg, he must get a new egg and start again.)
*Gone Fishing: Make fishing pole with a dowel, string, and clothes pin. Place an adult "helper" behind a board or some other barrier to hide. The children toss their fishing line over the divider and the helper clips a prize onto their pole. Younger children love this!
*Water Gun Shooting Gallery: Kids can try out their accuracy with this fun outdoor game. Set up a number of plastic bottles about 8 to 10 feet away from where the children will be standing. Place a jump rope on the ground to designate where they should stand. Give the kids squirt bottles or squirt guns. Let them try to knock down as many bottles as they can. For younger children, decrease the distance between the bottles and the shooting line.
*Walk the Tightrope: Make a balance beam using an eight-to-ten foot long two-by-four placed on the ground. Have the tightrope walkers line up at one end. Give the kids increasingly difficult tasks to perform as they move across the balance beam, such as walking across normally, sideways, backwards, with one arm in the air, toe-to-heel, blindfolded! Anyone who steps off the balance beam is out. Play until only one child remains. You can also use a masking tape instead of a beam.
*Egg Throw: Set a low table or a large cardboard box on the floor. Tape an egg carton on top. Give each circus birthday party guest twelve chances (using a dozen of Ping-Pong balls) to toss Ping-Pong "eggs" into the carton. Whoever gets the most in, gets to be the first person to take a photo with a birthday child.
*Training Seals: You will need a hula hoop for this game. You can ask an adult to help you hold a hula hoop, as you hold another one a few feet apart. The kids line up and jump through one and then through the other. The hoops are raised a little higher after each jump.
Birthday Clown
*Guess How Many: Put small candies in a jar and have the players guess how many are inside. Give the candies to the one who can guess closest to the amount, and give the leftovers to other players.
You might want to consider hiring a circus birthday party clown for a younger group of children (for 5 and 6-year-olds). He can face paint the children or entertain them with his silly tricks.
Circus Birthday Cakes:
*Carousel Cake: Bake two round layer cakes. Stack them on top of each other. Frost it with white icing. Stick peppermint sticks in a circle on the cake to form a carousel. Set tiny toy animals next to the peppermint sticks. Frost a pie pan and set it on top of the peppermint sticks for the roof of the carousel.
*Clown Cake: Bake a round cake and frost it with white icing. Decorate top to make a silly clown face, using sprinkles, jellybeans, colored marshmallows, and licorice. Let the kids make their own clown face cupcakes. Provide them a supply of icings, gels, sprinkles, and other edible decorations.

Sweet 16 Birthday
They only turn 16 once, so why not make it a special birthday.

Gone are the days of princess cakes and pirate ships. No longer can you just invite the whole class and whip together a set of games in the backyard. Your teenage daughter has a new set of demands, ranging from the perfect party to the best gift. Work with your teen to put together an unforgettable sweet 16 without losing your mind or half your bank account.
Go Big or Go Home
Sweet 16s can carry a heavy burden of expectations, depending on your child's interests and what all his friends have done. As fickle as teens can be, don't assume you know either way. Ask her upfront what she wants, either grand soirée with the entire student body or a simple night at home with a few close friends. Talking honestly about her expectations will limit any emotional letdowns later.
Related Articles
Out and About
The location of the party can play a huge part in pulling off an affair to remember. Unlike in birthday parties of old, your teen will be less impressed with a thinly veiled backyard or basement that has been "transformed" into a ballroom or dance floor. Rent out a favorite local restaurant or community center for the effect of "going out." You can even rent a limousine or borrow a fancy convertible for the teen and guests to travel in style.
Opposites Attract
One of the most emotionally driven elements of the night will be the guests. Depending on your child's personality, he may just want his buddies around so he can be himself or he may want to make the party coed and invite his favorite young ladies. Set limits early about the behavior you expect at the coed party. Plan games, hire a DJ and fill the night with events, so that hormones and boredom don't drag the affair down to a night of hurt feelings. You can leave room for some parent-free games of Truth or Dare and Spin the Bottle, if you feel so inclined, but guide the night by stepping in with cake or presents at the proper time.
Make a Scene
Sometimes, the joy of the night is making it all about your teen. Plan a special moment or two that will focus all the attention on her. If you have a large-scale gift to give, you may want to present it in the course of the party. A speech or special dance can also accomplish the goal of highlighting the birthday girl.
Appropriate Foods
Grand affairs call for sophisticated foods. Now is a great time to teach your child how to behave at a formal event. Serving mini hors devours sets the tone for a grown-up event. Don't forget that even the most mature teens are kids at heart, so don't shy away from pizza, burgers, milkshakes, cake, ice cream and other familiar stand-bys.

* Pink Poker Table - For a Vegas party this is a great themed activity.
* Cocktail Making Session - Get a cocktail making book and start practicing those recipes. If you have the budget for it, go to a cocktail making class or hire someone to come to your party to teach everyone.

40 And Better Than Ever!
Celebrate your 40th birthday with this 40...and better than ever gift!

Uh-oh! Turning the big four-oh, eh? Whether you're welcoming it or dreading it, it's going to happen.
Don't focus on getting "older"; see it as an opportunity to celebrate the last forty years of your life, and to jump head-first into the next! Forget about all of the long overused "Over the Hill" sayings; you know they do say that forty is the new twenty, so live it up!
Whether you prefer small, intimate get-togethers or you're all for over-the-top, invite everybody you know, kind of parties, this is the perfect time to take some time and make some memories.
Don't know what you want to do or how you'd like to celebrate? Short of 40th birthday party ideas? Give your party a theme and the planning almost does itself! Whether you have a murder mystery dinner, a masquerade ball, or good old-fashioned flashback kegger, you can celebrate with style!
Looking for small and intimate, yet still fun and unique? Why not throw a classic Whodunnit?-style murder-mystery dinner? Plan out your mystery and story, write some characters, and have a blast! Now that's an interesting 40th birthday party idea, isn't it?
If you need help with specifics, search online for "Murder Mystery Party" and you'll find heaps of helpful information and party layouts. The night of the party, rent some rooms in a hotel near downtown, establish a formal dress code, and have everyone meet in pairs in the lobby. Start with an introduction, give the backstory, and then head to a fancy restaurant for dinner.
From there, use the plans you've made to take your guests on a frightening, exciting scavenger hunt through downtown to uncover clues and find out who's the killer of the group. You'll enjoy lots of laughs and you and your friends will definitely remember your 40th for years to come! That would be a cool 40th birthday party idea indeed.
Maybe you love to be the center of attention, to dress to the nines, and dance the night away. If that's the case, for 40th birthday party ideas, think about hosting your very own Masquerade Ball. Rent a reception hall, the older the building the better. Hire a DJ who can provide a wide range of music, as you'll want some classical songs to go with your theme, but you and your guests might want some of the more modern tunes, as well.
Spend the day getting pampered; it is your birthday, after all. Go to craft shops or party stores and pick up enough novelty masks for you and all of your guests (and a few extras to use as decorations or in case a few break). Establish a rule that nobody can take the masks off until a certain time. Hire a baker to make an elaborate cake. With the proper planning, this will be a 40th birthday party your guests won't forget!
Maybe you're not so keen on turning forty... turn forty into the nineteenth anniversary of your twenty-first birthday! Party like you did that year. Get a keg and plenty of liquor for mixed drinks, and skip hiring a bar tender - do it like you did in college. Maybe even request that everyone brings some kind of alcohol or snack in lieu of an actual birthday gift. Go one-hundred percent and include beer bongs, helmets, set up drinking games... the whole nine yards. Just be prepared to clean up the mess the next day once the coffee and aspirin sinks in.
When it comes to 40th birthday party ideas, there are a lot of fun and creative ways to celebrate this momentous occasion. Do what makes you happy, and remember that it is your day to party. Pull out all the stops - you're worth it!
