Homemade Moai

I've always had a fascination for big stone sculptures, especially the Easter Island statues. They just seemed like the coolest thing in the world and my front yard needs one. Not the whole statue, just the head, sticking up, like the rest of the statue is buried in the ground
so
this lens is step one in the long process of bringing such a project to fruition. Not that I need more projects, I've plenty of unfinished projects in the afterwhile pile as it is.
But what the heck.

about 20 years ago I made a huge dragon head using a chicken wire armature and papermache. I've played some with ferrocement and with hypertufa, I'm always building yardart from concrete re-bar.
My thinking is that an armature made from rebar and chicken wire could be turned into a big stone head using a hypertufa/ferrocement process.

or at the very least I'll have made a lens about it...

april 5, 2011 - moved the moonchime out of the front yard, thats a step in the right direction to having room for the Moai !
