Sure, everyone loves Teddy Bears. Chances are, your first ever teddy you got as a baby is still sitting somewhere on a shelf, or maybe even tucked away in a chest full of childhood treasures.

But on this page we're not just talking teddy bears, we're talking BIG teddy bears! Large, giant, huge, ginormous stuffed bears that dwarf whoever is in their presence and smother ye with love.

This was mine...

My Big Teddy Bear

I must have been around 8 years old when I got mine. Now, that was very long ago, during a time when things were generally, um, smaller. It was a major financial undertaking for my dad to buy me the biggest teddy bear you could possibly find, but it was sooo worth it! I was the only kid in town with a gigantic bear that was as big as I was, and I aptly named him "Kaliummetabisulfit" (that's German for Potassium metabisulfite), the biggest word I knew at the time.

"Kali" was my closest companion until I got married, I guess. He lived out the remainder of his life with my best friend's kids until he was simply loved to pieces and disintegrated.

P.S.: I'm really happy I found a picture of a teddy bear like mine online. It was made by the German company "Sigikid". Too bad they don't make this anymore.

Aside from being soft and cuddly, he is also very decorative. Not sure how well he would stand up to chocolate covered little toddler hands though...

    Oh, I'm a polar bear fan, pure and simple. But I also have (stored at my parents' house) two large and much loved bears who were my chosen hospital companions at times of pain and when parted from my parents as a child. I have Percy Panda and Hilda Bear, who sat on my bed, went to the operating theatre with me and were there when I came round.

    It's funny that you say that. When I was researching teddy bears I was so tempted to get an irresistibly cute stuffed polar bear cub for myself. When the kids get bigger I will definitely need some huggable substitutes. :)

    Great lens - never had a Big Teddy bear but I was always envious of those who won one at Sideshow Alley.as part of the Brisbane Ekka (Exhibition Show). This is a great assortment including the Panda teddy bear which looks cute.
