Reader Feedback

From the lens BigGirlBlue's Favorite Modules.

This is a good way to finish off almost any lens. But I don't think every single lens needs one. If there is absolutely no other interaction on the lens then it definitely helps to involve the reader.

Guestbook peeve: Lensmasters who leave a lovely comment and then tell me to visit such and such a lens that has absolutely nothing to do with my guestbook topic. If it's a cooking lens I don't want to hear about your mortgage lens. Take it on faith that if you leave a comment on someone's lens that the lensmaster will click on your name, pick a lens title that interests them and return the the comment.

So what are you waiting for? Sign my guestbook. If you have a favorite module lens then be sure to link to it in the comments.

I liked a lot of this and learned from it. I'm sure I will use it as a reference. One note I would add is that I like "My Lenses" much better than the RSS option. It's more flexible, and since my top rated tend to change little, it lets me user other options, like recently updated and even alphabetical order.

I am now laughing at myself! I had no idea there was a wikipedia module! Yes, I would say I am still learning something new about Squidoo almost every day. Thanks!

I love the blackbox module for accents, but its the text box that I use the most. You cna do 101 things with it and that's what makes it fun.
    Thanks for sharing

I'm still learning about all the different modules available. I knew (and have used) the Featured Lenses module, but have been wondering how others were able to list lensmasters pictures. I did not know there was a Featured Lensmasters module. Thanks for this module review. It was a good reminder of ones I knew about, and now I've learned about one new to me :-).

The Text with Big Picture module is a new favorite of mine. I especially like that we can now include "alt" text for our picture as well as include a clickable link. Very nice, new feature! I'm with you on black black boxes. Black is very elegant and works well on lenses. As for featured lensmasters, well when I got to that section I was surprised to see myself there! Thanks for including me as a favorite!

My favorite is the flickr module and the Black Box. They both help to visually break up lots of text, and they make the lens more appealing.

My favorite has always been the Amazon spotlight module and I'm hoping for its cousin, the eBay spotlight module soon! And, to make it even better, it became a sidebar widget and I am now in widget heaven!

My favorite module is the Black Box.

Thanks for the introduction to the modules; this is great advice for people new to Squidoo (like me). :-)

Great tips, Moe. I like a lot of your favs, too. I like the video mode better than YouTube, and I also find the sticky note fun -- especially since I have them ALL over my house!

Good Advise for me...the newbie! And I am so amazed at the Cat in the water video. I am going to have to send this one to my daughter. Her cats are her babies and this will floor her!

Not so crazy about the Sticky note thing as not much room to type. Other than that, great lens.

I just checked and the video is working fine so I'm guessing it's your computer and not the module. And the video is from Youtube by the way.

Some reasons for the video link not working on other lenses: The person who uploaded took it down or youtube took it down.

I highly recommend using the contact form to let the lensmaster know that the link is no longer valid so they have the opportunity to change it like any other dead link.

Good info! But I've noticed that when lenses include video modules, most of the time the link is broken (see your module above - no video!). If I were to use a video module I would first try to find a website that would allow me to copy videos (from Youtube or whatever) and host them myself. Like Photobucket does for pictures. That way, you know the video will always be there. I'm not sure there is even such a thing as video hosting. Guess I'll find out! - lol -

4 stars ... would have given 5 but for the broken video link!

I'd never think of making a lens on Squidoo modules although it's obviously a great guide for many. Congratulations on creative idea and great lens! :)

I agree totally on the amazon spotlight module - I hardly use anything else for sales via the squidoo platform these days. I don't use the amazon plexo much: most visitors can't vote or add something anyhow.

Since you asked: here's my lens about modules I use: Squidoo modules to spice up your lens.

I have been a member of Squidoo for almost two years. In that time I have made over 100 lenses. It stands to reason that I would develop some favorites.
