The Greatest Invention

My imagination can be half attributed to the movies I've watched. The other half from books. But movies have always been an addiction for me. And some movies more than others.

This lens is dedicated to my absolute favorite movies that I can watch, and watch, and watch and still enjoy them as if it were the first time.

Now, in random order:

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves

A great date movie!

Robin Hood - Prince of Thieves (Two-Disc Special Extended Edition)

Amazon Price: $10.99 (as of 07/14/2009)Buy Now

One of my absolute favorite remakes of a hero classic. Kevin Costner plays the cocky and dashing Robin Hood; Morgan Freeman plays Azeem a devoted Moor he rescued; the gorgeous Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio portrays Maid Marian; Alan Rickman is the villainous Sheriff of Nottingham you can't help but love; and Christian Slater delivers the most misplaced f-word ever. Full of swashbuckling romance, evil witches, drunken friars and scary Celts.

"But why a spoon, cousin?"

Alien

Alien: 20th Anniversary Edition [Award Series]

Amazon Price: $8.99 (as of 07/14/2009)Buy Now

Even though this movie was made in 1979 and I've seen probably forty times (not an exaggeration), I still jump, I still wince and I still route for Sigourney Weaver's character Ripley. The alien thing works, otherwise they wouldn't have made four other sequels, all of which are great but I still love the first one the best.

Serenity

Serenity (Collector's Edition)

Amazon Price: $18.49 (as of 07/14/2009)Buy Now

This movie is kind of the conclusion to the series Firefly which was cancelled before it could come into it's own. I hadn't watched the series when the first time I watched this movie but I went out and bought the series the weekend after. I watched this movie twice within a few days. And two more times since then. I absolutely love the characters in this futuristic space movie. The wit has me laughing every time. And it is a good story with lots of action.

Underworld

Underworld (Widescreen Special Edition)

Amazon Price: $7.99 (as of 07/14/2009)Buy Now

Vampires, werewolves, amazing makeup, props, scenes and chracters. And Scott Speedman. Need I really say more?

I'm actually working on a complete lens for this movie and subsequent ones in the series.

"I am a Death Dealer, sworn to destroy those known as the Lycans. Our war has waged for centuries, unseen by human eyes. But all that is about to change."

Raiders of the Lost Ark

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark (Special Edition)

Amazon Price: $12.49 (as of 07/14/2009)Buy Now

When this movie first came out I already had a deep routed love of Egypt. I remember looking on at the Valley of the Kings with such aw. I wanted to BE Indie for years after seeing this movie.

This is another swashbuckling film with lots of action, mystery, special effects and humor thrown in for good measure. I never tire of seeing it.

Jaws

Jaws (30th Anniversary Edition)

Amazon Price: $7.99 (as of 07/14/2009)Buy Now

I just saw this again a few weeks ago and I still love it. Roy Scheider, Richard Dreyfuss, Robert Shaw and a shark with a grudge are able to capture my attention in this fast paced world we live in. The movie was released in 1975 and while you can tell it is not a real shark in some scenes it was still an amazing feint for that time period. The acting, suspense, music, everything is tied in so well and always leaves a lasting impression. I remember I had bobby socks with Jaws on them when I was a kid!

Movies I Love so Much I Made a Lens for Them

Resident Evil

Resident Evil (Deluxe Edition)

Amazon Price: $8.49 (as of 07/14/2009)Buy Now

I first fell in love with Milla Jovovich in Kuffs and then when she portrayed the alien being LeeLoo in The Fifth Element, I knew I was hooked.

This is a great zombie movie with Milla at the center of the action kicking lots of zombie butt. One of the good things about this movie is the plot and who dunnit that takes you from beginning to end before you know it's over.

"I'm missing you already."

I guess the movies I could watch over and over are The orignal Texas Chainsaw MAssacre, Romeo Must Die, Back to the Future and most Alfred Hitchcock or Stanley Kubrick movies.
