Learn The Skills

Here is a list of the basic skills you need to have before applying to most work at home jobs, including data entry jobs.

Using the Internet and Email

If you are completely new to the Internet and the web, you will need to know how to use the following:

How to send and receive email
How to attach a file to an email
How to download software and files
How to install software without too much additional help
Learning how to use this software on your own by reading manuals and figuring it out on your own without asking too many questions
How to upload files
Filling out online forms
Researching using databases and search engines

That is just the basics. You will need to get used to doing research and much more on the web. There should be classes available through your local college or you can figure it out on your own (most people do). You can find some tips at Internet Tutorials - http://www.internettutorials.net/.

Typing

Your speed should be a good average, try to reach the minimum 50 wpm - words per minute - rate.
Places to learn how to type or type faster:

Learn To Type - http://www.learn2type.com/

This place also includes ten key training. You can also get certified.

Spelling, Grammar, Typing It Right

Some of the most important things you need to know not only include typing, but learning how to type well. I'm not talking about being able to write a paper that will be published for the New York Times. I'm talking about in general, being able to check your spelling and grammar. So turn off that Caps Lock key, stop using Net speak (u need 2 no how 2 spel) and learn how to type properly.

Check your spelling. Do some research on grammar.
Basically, let a program like MS Word help you find the right spelled word%u2026 and then recheck your work. MS Word will not catch problems like when you spell bare instead of bear, etc.
