I just got this great email from my mentor and internet marketing guru Armand Moran and thought that they were too useful to keep to myself. As a Big Seminar Alumni I can personally a test to Armand's advice. Thanks Squidoo for helping to spread the word.

Tip #1: The best JVs are win/win.

Keep that in mind when you want to discuss a deal. Remember,
they may not be interested in commissions. Perhaps they just
want to do a lit cross-promotion.

You'll never know unless you talk to them and uncover their
needs.

Tip #2: The best place to scope out JVs is at the bar.

(Chris Swain's favorite. This one made me a fortune at Big Seminar 8).

People are relaxed and more likely to open up after a drink
or two or three. Keep your own drinking in check, and simply
observe and listen for opportunities. Oh, and don't leave
too early.

Many a match has been made during last call.

It also can't hurt your chances for success by buying
someone a drink as a friendly gesture.

Tip #3: Sit next to people you don't know during meals.

You never know...they may end up having just the resource
you need to tap a dormant opportunity!

Tip #4: Meet Someone New Each Break.

When meeting someone new, try to think of ways you can
help them. You may find out later they are the perfect
person to help you with a marketing problem or promotion
effort.

Tip #5: Promote Yourself correctly.

Bring business cards and promotional material and give
it to people you meet on-on-one.

Don't leave flyers or blanket marketing collateral lying
around. You don't want to be perceived as a blatant
advertiser or "spammer."

Bonus Tip From Chris Swain: Plan On Staying Late

Big Seminar is a huge networking event. Although each day starts extremely early, the night goes on and on. So rest up before the event and plan on allowing yourself time to wind down a day or two after words.
