Bill Bonner: Author of Daily Reckoning

Bill Bonner is a finance and investment author, with a very different outlook on economics. He writes the daily newsletter: "The Daily Reckoning" and has written several books (detailed below) and also writes for MoneyWeek magazine edited by Merryn Somerset Webb (another of my favourite finance authors) He is also the founder and president of Agora Publishing.

Bill Bonner has a refreshingly depressing, pessimistic style of writing looking for all that could go wrong with the financial markets as we know them. He has been positive on gold since long before everyone else was and has been predicting the collapse of fiat currencies (i.e. not backed by real assets: dollar, pound, euro, yen etc.) for a long time.
