Take a spin up and down your radio dial. What do you hear? What do your children hear? As Christians we are to meditate on the things that are "pure, lovely, admirable and praiseworthy" (Phil 4:8). Lets face it, most of what is found on the airwaves doesn't fit the bill if you are living a Christian life.

Fortunately, Christian radio has grown to provide music to live by. The image of Christian radio and Christian music as second rate is no longer valid. Christian radio has blossomed in the past ten years and now has a sound that is at least as good as secular radio. Indeed some of the larger Christian radio stations are broadcasting in HD radio and Christian Radio can be found on satellite radio as well.

This is good news for parents that are trying train their children up in the ways of the Lord. If you search your radio dial, you will most likely be able to find a Christian radio station that plays music that "sounds like" what your children are listening to: Rock, HipHop, Punk. Its all there, BUT with Christian lyrics and kids love it!

Today's youth have made Christian groups like Switchfoot and P.O.D. top artists on secular and Christian radio. The music draws them in and the message can change their life. I remember talking to a young mother on the telephone. She was in the car with her teen-age daughter when "ZJams" came on. This is a syndicated Christian radio program that plays Christian music that is rather hard. The mother left the music play and her daughter loved it. She couldn't believe what she was hearing on a Christian radio station. The daughter has become a regular listener. What is wonderful is that as she is listening she is getting the Word in the songs and in the ministry that happens between the music.

Christian radio isn't just for kids. There is something for everyone. Today's Southern Gospel music is not the same as the Southern Gospel Music that your father listened to. Groups like the Crabb Family, Ernie Hass & Signature Sound, the Booth Brothers and others have helped to grow Southern Gospel into a sound with a broader appeal. The Bill Gaither Homecoming Series videos and CD's are some of the biggest selling items in music today. Country artists like Randy Travis, Charlie Daniels and Carrie Underwood have crossed over to Christian music making Christian music appealing in sound to country music fans.

Whatever you tastes in music may be, Christian radio has a sound that will satisfy you. Christian radio will help you keep focused on the important things in life during the week. It really is music with the Word of life.
