Youngest Solo Artist To Reach #1

Billie became the the youngest solo artist to reach number one in the UK charts when she released her first single "Because We Want To" in 1998. Her second single "Girlfriend" also reached the number one spot and was part of the platinum selling album "Honey To The B".

The second album "Walk of Life" was released in May 2000, and contained the singles "Day & Night"and "Something Deep Inside". After this Billie turned her attention to acting, although "The Best of Billie" was released during 2005 and the single "Honey to the Bee" was re-released in 2007.

Billie as Doctor Who sidekick Rose Tyler

Billie Piper played Rose Tyler in the high profile return of the TV series Doctor Who alongside Christopher Eccleston. The series proved to be very popular and Billie received awards including best new TV talent (Television and Radio Industries Club) and Best Actress (TV Quick and TV Choice Awards).

She went on to appear in the second series of the show (alongside David Tennant), leaving in the last episode when she was exiled to a parallel planet Earth.

Rose Tyler made a brief return in the fourth series of Doctor Who in mid 2008.

Acting Career

Although probably best known for playing Rose Tyler in BBC series Doctor Who, Billie has played a variety of other characters.

Other BBC productions featuring Billie Piper include The Canterbury Tales, Much Ado About Nothing, Bella and the Boys amongst others.

Films featuring Billie Piper include The Calcium Kid (2004 with Orlando Bloom), Things to do before your Thirty and Spirit Trap (2005).

During 2007 Billie starred as Belle de Jour in ITV2's Secret Diary of a Call Girl based upon the book The Intimate Adventures of a London Call Girl. The series achieved record audiences for ITV2 and Billie is currently filming the second series due to be aired in September 2008.
