Very interesting lens I couldn't even imagine being that wealthy. It's a shame some will never really understand the meaning of hard work, there are some very lucky people in your list. I would be happy with just 10% ;). Cool page.

I had no idea that "Elaine" from Seinfeld is an heiress!

Well I don't know many people that wouldn't want to be a billionaire. Having money just makes life less stressful and a bit more fun. That said, you can't buy happiness. What I love about the billionaires you've mentioned (Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, and Oprah) is that they are giving away large chunks of their fortune to worthy causes. It perturbs me when the rich don't share their blessings with others.

You really hit on some great points with this lens. Just wondering where T. Boone Pickens is, or am I making him richer than he is, don't recall for certain. No matter. Really nicely done lens.

It is fun to daydream about what you would do with a huge amount of money. I'm sure there are drawbacks too, like security and people wanting you to give them money.

Less than two weeks ago, Bill Gates and Warren Buffet invited 40 Billionaires to a "Pledge Party" that ask each to give away at least half of their personal wealth after their passing. Mr. Barron Hilton former Chairman and CEO of the Hilton Hotels Corp. has pledge 97% of his $2.7 Billion dollar fortune to a charitable foundation he founded to educated the blind, provide safe drinking water in Africa and provide housing for the mentally retarded. Mr. Hilton's gift was the largest charitable give by an individual donor in 2009.

Not too fussed about being a billionaire, I think money gives you time, how you use that time is then your choice, I would just like the opportunity to have the time - perhaps a couple of million would do - hope that makes sense

Being a billionaire sure gives you a lot of options and frees you up to do whatever you want, like searching for enligtenment for instance.

I want to be a billionaire. Looks like I need to get to work!

Oprah is a great example of someone who has made her fortune because, first and foremost, she helps people. :)

    Hi Tricia,

Great lens, 5 stars. Although you forgot #26 on your list, me :-). As most people, sure, would love to have Billions of dollars, kind of scary just saying it, but as I always say, for most, becoming wealthy is a goal and an attainable goal starts with a decison.

    Excellent lens,

I would use the majority of that money to help others. I'm not so special that I need to have the best of everything. Having just enough to not worry would be fine. There's no way I could sleep at night knowing others were suffering and I could be helping. Health and family are the most important things in life to me, and I feel like a billionaire just having them. Money is necessary but actually means very little -- in my opinion.
  • papawu Oct 12, 2008 @ 3:26 am | delete
I most certainly would not mind being a billionaire. I once heard it said that, "Money does not make the world go round, but it does make the ride worthwhile."

I'd settle for a million, but I'm not sure I can even count that high!
  • Tiddledeewinks Aug 31, 2008 @ 7:32 pm | delete
Let's make a million lenses! I could use just a million dollars and invest to build it up and finally get my kids and me our own house (farm)! Then I could help those helpless animals.

I agree with the discussion that we can give in a valuable way without having a billion $$ however, I can also think of many ways that having resources like that could play a huge part in making living more sustainable for many many people.
Great 5* thought provoking and interesting lens!
I recently (finally) saw "The Secret". I like Winter52's take on this. Yes... sit in the backyard and think about how it would feel and then let yourself 'feel' that way. Then the law of attraction will do the rest. :D

I'm sure, I will be a billionaire. If not in this, then in the next life :-) But seriously: Only, who thinks big, can achieve big things. The money then comes for itself, because it was not the only and first reason for doing anything, but the passion and therefore the success with it was the reason, that the money came along. Let's have fun in what we are doing and the money will love us! :-))

very interesting 5***** if i were a billionaire i would live a little and make sure those less fortunate could help me spend it.
  • Spook Jul 24, 2008 @ 4:53 pm | delete
Who wouldn't, but personally it would be too much for me. I'd prefer enough to make ends met, so I guess that must mean billions.
  • dwdave Jul 23, 2008 @ 9:31 pm | delete
I would invest in good hearty portion back into my local community. Set up a fund( probably in euros) for my daughter so she never had to sweat the mortgage & utilites

If i were a Billionaire. first i would help all my family with all their problems. i know not all problems could be solve by money alone but it could really help.
  • Recession-Proof Jun 19, 2008 @ 10:31 pm | delete
I had no clue about Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Very interesting. I would love to be a billionaire. I think in many ways, people wait to do the things they should be doing now. If you're saying, "if I was a billionaire I would then donate." There are many ways we can all help others, money is just one of them. Great thoughts. ~Jesse

I would love to be a billionaire. I think there are so many things I can do with the money, both for me, my family and those in need.
  • BFuniv.com Jun 5, 2008 @ 12:58 am | delete
Just think of the joys in first earning, and then giving away, billions of dollars.
  • Winter52 May 25, 2008 @ 9:10 am | delete
I know what I will be doing this afternoon... sitting in the backyard thinking about how cool it would be to have that much money. :) 5* just for the thought lol

    I love your lens!!! 5****
I would love to be a Billionaire. I would set my family up for life, help the hungry in the US and drill wells in Africa. I would also donate to Squidoo. I think one should dream big and big things will happen.
    Thanks Beth

I would totally like to have billions of dollars. I would put it to good use looking after my family and friends, and then I would become a philanthropist.
