Did You Like My Suggestions For Organizing A Bill Paying Notebook?

I'd Love To Hear What You Think!

From the lens Organizing With Binders, A Bill Paying Notebook.

  • Linda Schroeder Apr 27, 2012 @ 8:14 pm | delete
Yes, and I do most of it already. I just don't have a bill paying notebook. Years ago you could buy some which was perfect for me. It think it was called simplicity or simple bugeting binder. I don't really remember what it was called but I used the same kind every year for years, then one year I went to get me one for the next year and they were no longer being sold. I haven't use one now in probably 20 years. That is why I want to create me one. Thanks for your ideas.

I keep all my bills in sight until I pay them an then they get filed. If I put them in something I know I would forget all about them.

These are great ideas. I have a hit or miss system that seems to work for me, but I don't have many bills (thank goodness!) to keep track of.

I need to do this again. One divorce, 3 kids, and 2 moves later....I am in need of something to help me get organized for my bills. Trying to decide which one I need. Has to be Big! Blessed!
  • Helene-Malmsio Feb 4, 2012 @ 8:10 am | delete
I have always kept bills due and paid in one place for filing in archives later. I also once used a bill planner schedule/diary that really helped to plan for when utilities and other bills were coming up. Great lens!
  • GayleMcLaughlin Jan 10, 2012 @ 5:09 pm | delete
I like the idea of one place for all the bills. I don't know why I haven't done this yet!
  • GypsyOwl Jan 10, 2012 @ 4:51 pm | delete
These are the BEST for organizing bill and keeping track of bill paying! One place for all the bills and you always know where to find them and the receipts-or confirmation # when they are paid. When I first started using these I couldn't believe how much stress of paying bills was simply to make sure I didn't lose one. This method of organizing your bills is the BEST you can find to take away a lot of the stress of bills. Now you can see them all in one place and always know if you have any left to pay this month. Thanks for all the research you've done to get this resource handy. You are going to save us all a lot of time and money.

Great lens! I'm adding it to my "featured lens" module on my binders lens!
  • hotbrain Dec 3, 2011 @ 1:31 pm | delete
A bill paying notebook is a good suggestion... I am prone to loosing things so I usually try to pay the bills as soon as they come in. People think I'm doing it to be early, but really I'm just doing it so that I don't misplace a bill or forget about it.
  • desa999 Nov 4, 2011 @ 12:35 am | delete
Thanks for the great tips as I always have trouble keeping track of bills, usually they end up on the fridge door until they are paid.

Good lens. I keep bills in individual folders with all the due dates on a large desk top calendar. I like the binder idea though. It is a much better use of space and quicker to flip through.
  • crosscreations Mar 28, 2011 @ 12:35 pm | delete
I'm an organizing with binders kind of gal, and glad I found this today. Was just thinking about how I really need a better organized system for money and such, then found this lens today. I especially like your idea of including space for some creativity in there, for THAT helps my motivation a ton. On my way to creatively organize my finances in a FUN way. :-)

"Are your bills scattered all over the house?" - Yep

" Where's your checkbook?" - I seem to have mislaid it somewhere!

"Do you know the balance of your savings and checking accounts? What payments are outstanding?" Nope.

Oh dear, I think I need to study this lens :)

Every January my husband and I go looking for a divided envelope or accordion folder for our taxes. We have been doing this for years, so next year I will probably begin to recycle used folders.

    Thanks for the ideas.

One needs to keep track of bills which are due or which are not been paid. If there is no proper track of these due bills then there is a high possibility in running into debts. Which the worst case scenario for anyone. I guess a bill payment notebook is really handy for keeping those bills in one place rather then searching the bills all around the house.

Thank you for sharing such valued information :)
  • Hairdresser007 Mar 30, 2010 @ 11:23 pm | delete
this is great I need to adopt something. I got the Suze Orman binder and I love it but I don't use it every month. I just file stuff and leave it there.

Great lens congrats on being the lens of the day!

Wow, that was a great deal of information. Although that doesn't really apply to me at the moment, well done! I hope to create one like this in the future.

Congratulations on LOTD! You have introduced a good system. I have used variations of it for about 40 years. I keep my business records on Quickbooks now, and I pay most bills automatically on line so I can't forget them. Using a binder system for my business is not practical, since I just have too many bills to fit. I put all incoming bills into the top slot of my desk file organizer. Then I go through and enter everything into Quickbooks every Friday or Saturday and pay anything I need to.

Great ideas for staying organized. I have to admit, this is one area that I fail miserably in, keeping track of everything. Left to my hubby, bills just don't get paid and we are constantly hunting for the appropriate papers. I think I need to get myself a binder!
