Who in the World is Bill Peet?

Who hasn't heard of Dr. Suess, H.A. Rey, Stan and Jan Berenstain, or Richard Scarry? Most of us are familiar with such titles as "Corduroy", "If You Give a Pig a Pancake", "Guess How Much I Love You", and "Goodnight Moon". But who in the world is Bill Peet, and what does he have to do with all these kid's books and authors? Bill Peet is an amazing author and illustrator. He wrote and illustrated about 30 children's books, and worked for Walt Disney company for many years. Read on to see why I think he's so cool!

Bill Peet and the Disney Connection

Bill Peet began working for Disney Studios as an apprentice animator in 1937. He had a part in the creation of the Disney animated classics: "Dumbo," "101 Dalmatians", "The Sword in the Stone," "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," "Pinocchio," "Fantasia," "The Three Caballeros," "Cinderella," "Peter Pan," "Alice in Wonderland," "Sleeping Beauty," "Song of the South" and "The Jungle Book."

Eventually, Bill became the "sole developer" of "101 Dalmatians" and "The Sword in the Stone," "for which he drew the characters, wrote the screenplays and directed the actors´ voice performances." (http://legends.disney.go.com/legends/detail?key=Bill%20Peet)

After almost 30 years with Disney, Bill retired in 1964 and devoted his time to writing and illustrating more than 30 children's books.
