Artist, Actor, Writer & Director

Model-turned actor Billy Wirth has carved out a career in Hollywood over the last two decades. With roles in The Lost Boys and Red Shoe Diaries, as well as guest spots on popular television series, Billy has also found himself behind the camera, writing and directing MacArthur Park.

Billy Wirth

Who is he?

William E. Wirth was born June 23rd, 1962 in New York City, NY. His father was a lawyer and his mother an artist, whose ancestry is linked to the Huron Native Americans. Growing up with his two brothers, Billy always enjoyed sports and excelled at them, dreaming of participating in the Olympics.

Billy attended Collegiate Prep in Manhattan before going on to study at Brown University in Rhode Island. His majors were Economics and Business, and he broke several track records during his time there, including the high jump. While at Brown he participated in the first Empire Games in NYC and played basketball on a team that included actor David Duchoveny.

Also while at university, Billy was discovered by photographer Bruce Weber. Billy started modeling for Seventeen, GQ, Interview, and other various teen magazines. He also got his first break in television by doing a commercial for Diet Pepsi. Landing a role on the television show The Equalizer, Billy moved to Los Angeles and started his acting career. His first feature film role was in 1985's Seven Minutes in Heaven. Billy followed this up by playing Dwayne, the teenage vampire in the cult classic The Lost Boys. In 1988, Billy landed a lead role in War Party.

Other roles followed, in films as well as on television. Billy participated in both American Gladiators (where Gemini cheated and tripped Billy with his bandanna thus allowing Billy to win by disqualification) as well as MTV's Rock and Jock special, playing basketball on Dan Cortese's team.

In 1999 Billy directed his first film Kismet, which opened doors and resulted in financial backing for 2001's MacArthur Park, which Billy not only wrote but directed. The film premiered at 2001's Sundance Film Festival as a Grand Prize nominee

Equally interested in music, Billy fronted a rock band in Los Angeles in the 90's called Dust'n'Bones. The band never released anything, playing locally around the LA club scene. Billy is currently in a band called the Cronies Nest, who hope to release an acoustic CD in the future.

With a passion for photography, Billy has taken this interest and shown his Polaroid images in several galleries in California, as well as selling to private collectors.

Between guest starring on episodes of Sex & the City, Charmed, CSI, and Martial Law, Billy has also been traveling to meet with fans at various horror conventions.
