Bingo Games Celebrating Diversity

This diversity bingo game is an excellent diversity activity or diversity training tool. It can be played in a short period of time and is a great way to discuss the issues of diversity and inclusion in a non-threatening way. The "caller" or moderator draws the questions that are listed on the cards out of a bowl or other container. The first player that correctly responds to the question can cover the square. The questions help the players learn more about other groups, consider how their own racial, gender, or cultural makeup impacts how they respond to others, and learn to interact with others in a respectful and tolerant manner.

There are pictures and names of famous or influential African Americans, but there are also important court cases and pieces of legislation, as well as questions that are designed to expand the knowledge of children or adults who play this game. There are quotes by famous African Americans and even a few questions that are just for fun. The game can be used as a quiz (squares can only be covered if the player can correctly answer the question, etc.) or as a launching pad for a discussion about the calling piece that is drawn. It's up to your choice.
