Rearmed and Ready to Rock
Bionic Commando Rearmed is an enhanced remake of the classic 2D 8-bit action platformer Bionic Commando for the NES released in 1988.
Rearmed remains extremely faithful to the original while adding a slue of enhancements. While the 2D gameplay in combination with the levels are almost perfectly preserved from the 1988 game, the graphics and overall design has been revamped and modernized. 3D character models and backgrounds along with smarter enemy A.I., bigger bosses (sadly, the final boss with the exploding head isn't present), new abilities, upgrades, and new game modes make Rearmed much more than a simply remake. Very nicely rendered, this reminds me of shoot 'em ups made for the Dreamcast like Ikaruga, Armada, and Zero Gunner 2. There's a varied list of enemies, including some great bosses.

I used to geek out for hours just playing this game and Contra for NES. It is a relief to see the next gen of gaming going back to its roots! Maybe some more classic 2D games wil make the jump to next gen? Mega Man? Castlevania? Cmon Capcom, don't make me beg :):)

An awesome game with an innovative concept
This is one of those platform games that everyone who played it has good memories of. Instead of being able to jump, you have a bionic arm that you can attach to objects and swing off of. It will be a pain at first, and you'll die many a time, but if you persevere you'll soon get the hang of it. Even without the bionic arm this game would be great. It's a solid military game with a variety of levels, lots of weapons and items, and a fantastic plot. Go get it today!
