What Is A Biopic Movie?
A biopic is a film or a movie that is biographical in nature or one that dramatizes the life of a real person. I have also seen it defined as a 'biographical movie.'
It is not a movie that is BASED on a true story but rather a movie that tries to tell the LIFE STORY of an individual (or a very important period of their life.)
Upcoming biopic movies include Magic Beyond Words, a biopic about J.K. Rowling; Furious Love, a biopic based on the life of Elizabeth Taylor; and The Iron Lady, a biopic based on the life of Margaret Thatcher. (Yes, that is Meryl Streep shown here in The Iron Lady.)
Considerably rarer is a film that is autobiopic. An autobiopic movie is one in which the main character in the movie is played by the real individual.
Stay tuned for a few examples of past, present and future biopic and autobiopic movies.

- I hadn't seen the word until recently either and I was pronouncing it bi-opic instead of bio-pic. It looks like an eyeglasses term! Since I know what it is now, I think it's a really good word to describe these really good movies!
