Good News!

Every idea presented here can be used on any day of the year.

No other holiday can make that claim. (Try wearing a Halloween costume to work in April.)

This proves that Birds are worthy of year-round celebration.

In case you want to talk to someone

Recommended source for binoculars.
Optics4Birding
This company has a complete selection and a very helpful staff.

They're also an authorized dealer for everything that they sell. This matters because then you know that you're buying a legitimate product with a US warranty (instead of a gray market clone).

I've bought three pairs of binoculars from them.

By the way, if you're pleased after talking with them, place an order with them.

I strongly recommend Optics4Birding.

One More Thing

Here's another way to help birds

Teach Children to Respect Birds

Good Habits Begin at Home

Sadly, some children throw stones at birds. Even worse, some children shoot birds with sling shots, arrows, or BB guns.

Birds are not toys. And they're not targets. They're an essential part of nature.

Birds are living creatures. Like you, they feel pain when hurt.

You can make a difference by advocating respect for birds and all living things. Do this by teaching the importance of nature. Emphasize that we depend upon our environment for our survival.

You can also refuse to provide your children with weapons. Or you can at least make sure these things are used for target sports instead of killing birds.

We teach values two ways: 1) By practicing the value, and 2) By showing appreciation when others apply it.

After all, you're raising children to be productive members of a sustainable future.

You Can Make a Difference

The American Bird Conservancy Guide to Bird Conservation

This book tells about birds at risk. And it tells about practical things you can do to save them.

There are many success stories about how people identified a problem, gained political support, and took action. As a result, they rescued birds from extinction. You can help, too.

I strongly recommend this book.

I am now more educated about birds than I was before I read your lens! I recently visited a wildlife sanctuary which specialized in birds commonly found in SW Florida. Fascinating!! Thanks for your wonderful photos and thoughtful, insightful commentary, which helped me understand more about our feathered friends!

I go out to take care of my plants and the birds often come to "play with me" and my dog and I love watching them. These days they are very loud, singing their hearts out to greet the spring and tell the whole world about love... Beautiful lens!! :)
